can anyone let me know what happens when you buy a legit ilok 2 or 3? I currently have many of the dylib method unlocked ilok plugins from a couple of years ago (altiverb, GRM tools, etc etc). I'm considering buying an iLok for exponential audio plugins and I'm wondering if running a legit ilok alongside these will break my older dylib'd ilok plugs.

anyone else running both or has anyone run into this issue ?

 

I have an iLok 2 and no, it doesn't. The iLok/license manager and k'd plugs are completely independent of each other.

 

Not sure to understand why you would do that since:

- You already have some cr'cked plugins, it's not like if you were completely legit.
- Most of exponential stuff is already available on the sister site.

 

certainly not most stuff, and you can't demo stuff without a dongle

 

I'm running legit iLoked software (UVI Falcon...) and e.g. iZotope Iris (for testing) side by side without interference. The not (yet) legit software does not appear in the iLok License Manager (so iLok cannot phone home to tell about non legit software titles on the computer).
You don't even need an iLok Stick, because the iLok Software protection runs the legit software as well (not sure if that is true for older software titles).
Nevertheless I would recommend to buy the stick as a backup media. Falcon for instance allows 3 Activations, that I used for my Desktop, my Laptop and one for the iLok, just in case.

 

where is the exponential stuff available?? as far as I know the EA stuff has not been cracked for Mac

@phloopy yes I saw this today... at least it is not something that will render iLok2 obsolete... I wonder if I would have to pay extra to move licenses onto it.

Though, it 'd be pointless to move licenses... if a valid, un-full iLok 2 is still owned by individual that wants v3.

 

I still have and use an iLok 1 for PLAY Ministry of Rock 1, and I can manage it the same as my iLok 2 inside iLok Manager and the site, so I can personally vouch that none of the existing iLok models are obsolete (yet).
