Since its a completely different platform i would suggest a fresh install, though there may be options with the hirens boot software or others.

I've got my new HP workstation laptop (Zbook Studio G3 mobile workstation) with i7 6820HQ 2.7ghz, 16gb ram DDR4 2400mhz, Nvidia Quadro 8GB graphics, pci-e HP Zturbo 512gb SSD with a beautiful 4K dispay.
Working on it it's a dream, in fact it's that powerful to make me not considering a desktop build anymore. I can make music anywhere, anytime and switching to different studios taking my projects with me it's a breeze.
I will probably upgrade in the next 2-3 years with the updated version of Zbook series.

Acronis True Image can make an image of your c: partition that you can restore on a totally different machine. You will most likely have to install drivers manually from a usb stick or similar.

Ryzen's power efficiency it's insane though. They chewed Intel on that one.

Yep they did. For me, and for many i'm sure this release still feels a little pre-mature. Big wins in performance for sure. I 'm in love with Ryzen no matter, but the chipset is still a "run of the mill" consumer chipset and doesn't match the workstation features Intel's X99 offers (more pcie lanes, more ports natively, more ram support, thunderbolt option, etc) . The best board i can find in terms of features on X370 is AsRock's Tai Chi : http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X370 Taichi/index.asp . And if we talk X99 the same brand has made this too : http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/x99 extreme11/
It is obvious that for the moment AMD is targeting the upper low and mid budget user markets. This is why the increased productivity factor, which is why most users would buy into Ryzen, has an existence which is a little contradictory. In my book, for the moment it still is a Workstation/Server grade performance cpu being held back by a consumer chipset. We 'll just have to wait and see what the future will bring. I 'm still thrilled about Ryzen.
It would make great sense to enthusiasts and professionals for AMD to bring a new chipset out that at least matches the current X99 set of features.
    Cheers :)
EDIT: I can understand AMD's approach but they need to target the upper user market too. After so many years in the gutter (AMD i mean), i can tell they rushed and were more eager than prepared, imho of course and only in the less important but still existent details. Like gaming performance and minimal consumer chipset.

That's what i am planning to do actually. I have saved a good clean state with just what i need, only new drivers for mobo would need theoretically. I hope Acronis will work and won't mess up everything. :)

Asus Prime X370 Pro is the plan with some vengeance 3200mhz-16gb for starter and going to full 64 after.
    Let's see!

I do not know if it still holds but I have not used AMD for years because of bad chipsets .... it could have changed since then.

The quote was about them (AMD) giving it more time before the release instead. After all its their butt on the line so to speak. They did good, could have done better. I always think from the consumer's interest pov. Giving it more time will allow Intel to react effectively and this may not be the outcome AMD wanted and ultimately may not lead to the prices balancing on really lower scales. But its only theoretical mumbo jumbo really lol lol. Be well:)

    Awesome!
Jaymz, can you check one of your bigger cubase sessions that is almost maxed out(asio meter) in cubase and see how it affects the same session on 5820k and ryzen?I want to know if there is a big difference.
    I gots to know, man.

Thanks a lot for sharing, bro.
    Also read on newegg.
AMD disclosed recently they intentionally added 20°C to the CPU temp reader to ensure consistent fan cooling. If you rig says it's 63°C it's actually 43°C.

    Interesting....

    I don't trust AMD anymore.
As computer tech (and from personal experience), it is Intel CPU and Intel Chipset now.
Intel prices are up ? No problem...i will WAIT.

Because if AMD is really stable, they will sell. And Intel will need to lower their prices.
And if AMD is not stable (as it was some years ago)...i just don't care :D

I remember using/debugging non Intel chipsets (AMD, Nvidia...), it was a total KNIGHTMARE.
And don't tell me about good/bad builds : when a chipset sucks, it sucks. Whatever you put along side.

ppl speak about perfs/price, but they rarely speak about STABILITY.

Because it is easier to make a benchmark in few minutes than testing a build in real life for weeks.
Good luck ppl with AMD. I already gone that way...and went back.

I`ve had problems with sata controllers on my old amd platforms, on two seperate computers built with quad phenoms.
I can partially agree why i am hesitating to build a rig around ryzen, but perhaps times have changed now.
