Am I the only person who finds this subject really disgusting?

If there was one group of people who really should understand what goes into making music and should appreciate that musicians deserve to get some reward from people who possess their music, it should be other fucking musicians.

Yet here you are, all looking for ways to download other peoples work for free, its very sad for what i thought was some kind of community here.

 

I agree to a certain degree .... software is slightly different there aren't that many companies in the scheme of things and some have monopolized the industry and tend to inflate there prices software and hardware in my opinion ,,, as an releasing artist they have paid there dues (hopefully ) bought all the software they have used and put into the system ... taking from them does seem wrong ... I feel a bit of an hypocrite as i have downloaded albums before mainly new artist's to see if i like there vibe ... i defiantly buy though if i like .. to support them ...

like i said this is tough one as we all (i expect) being part of this site and the sister site have downloaded warez suppose if we stick to the slight morals we have with try before you buy i cant condemn it

 

Buying an album through means of label is actually pouring money into wrong hands where they can do damage in terms of monopoly and restrictions (DRM & More).
I am all in for supporting artists, but through public distribution, the artist gets around 1-5% of your money.
As for movie soundtracks & Trailer Music, the artist gets exactly 0% - they're paid one-time with the release of movie/trailer.

Solution - buy music directly from artist' website. Some do allow it.

Finally, you can do some crate digging at beatport, plus you can search for full-length "previews" on youtube.

Even google can be a big helper about that. For example:

What is MP3? Isn't that the archaic and terribly sounding lossy format for audio popular around 2000s? I vaguely remember downloading some of these over a decade ago when it was popular. It's only FLAC and WavPack now. WavPack can be 32-bit, if you need to preserve the undithered master in 32-bit, ready for editing. FLAC can be 16 or 24-bit, so it's good for dithered, finished masters.

With all this space available and HDDs being as cheap as chips, it would be a bit stupid to archive audio files in MP3 format. And it really is so bad.

Download FLACs? From torrent sites like RARBG, ExtraTorrent etc.
