    Hey
For days now i'm trying to understand how to achieve this...sound or "effect" on the bass like here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSNerxNwWtU from 1:20 min (for like 10 seconds)

Like the Bass going in and out...anyone could share a thought on that?

    Thank you!

Sidechain compression. YouTube it. It's that breathing or pumping sound you want. It's easier for you to watch it than I can explain it.

get yourself a saw wave with a sine an octave lower. stretch some midi notes for the length of one bar. (4 kicks)
Open up a sidechain compressor, use your kick (or a second trigger channel) as input for the compressor. big ratio, short attack, half release. voila.

It's the most used, and most common method to get a pumpy ducking sound.

Depending on witch DAW you use I suggest aswell that you have to go and youtube it..

But you better learn how to use sidechain compression, it's very useful

ya it's Side-chain compression Side-chain the bass to the kick to a compressor and every time the kick comes on it will trigger the compressor and pull the level down :break:

Like everyone else said, sidechain compression, find a tutorial for your DAW on You Tube, I think it's the most common tutorial of every tutorials :)

Basically you put your compressor on the bass channel and kick is triggering compressor every time it hit, so bass is compressed on every 4 beat if it's the case, in other words when the kick is playing the bass is ducking :)

if you use fruity you could just slap a peak controller on your kick and send your bass to it

That part of the track reminds me of Robbie Rivera's Funkatron
