Looking for tips on how to make early digital reggae drums :)
    Examples:

I noticed that very often, real hihats are used along with the kick, snare and toms of a digital drummachine.
I also heard that soundsystems would often record their drums through a bass/guitar cabinet. Does anyone know of any other production-techniques from this genre?

Oh, and while I am at it, I once found a huge pack of vintage drum machines, but I can't locate it for the sake of my life. Does anyone have a link?

probably "The Machine" pack by sabotage from warbeats.
original source seems gone but i'm sure it's still on the sistersite.
i could probably also find it on my drives, not on a good connection to share 1gb tho.

Wasn't the same. The one I had was several gigabytes. Looks strikingly similar though, and this pack probably contains most machines available to the guys back then anyway. Thanks for sharing!

Does anyone happen to know anything about common machines in early dub? FX units, delays, whatever. Any popular choices?

I've been into dub and early reggae since 76 and own a few different delay units - space echo 201 and the watkins copicat

I love the space echo, the spring reverb and repeats on this beast is awesome, the watkins has been repaired more than i've used the thing lol

Also for lovely crazy effects and shit i use the jomax t resonator 2 and the synfex.

have a look here, should give you a good insight into what you require
