    Hello to all,

i bought a lot of Waves plugins which works.
After some problems with the Midi / Audio interface i optimized my computer.
So i deactivated some drivers, also the ethernet / lan driver.
After that the Waves plug ins stop working.

The answer of the support, i don't have to deactivate the ethernet driver and turn it on.
But that is no solution for me. So Waves support say that the license can be transfered to an
usb stick and so the Waves plug ins will work. That is the only chance to get it to work.
It only works with a Dongle !?

This is no way for me.
I deinstalled all Waves plug ins and i don't want to use those bad programmed, supported plugins.

I asked for a payback of all my bought plugins, but Waves refused to pay it back.

I would like to say that. Others like Wave but i don't do it after this all. No way for Waves.

Enable Network card but disable Internet - plug out the cable. Waves licensing system uses the network card [its MAC number] for licensing. Alternatively you can uninstall TCP/IP driver from network card properties so Internet won't work with it. You can still use networking, though.

I deactivated it because of optimizing latency. I hade some problems with crackles with vsti.
So i deactivated lots of not used driver. Uninstalling the driver is a possibillity. But at the moment my system
    is ok for using.
All other brands plugins works great, but Waves not. So i will never again use the Waves
plug ins. Sorry for my oppinion.

Sounds like pure bullshit to me. My recording computer isn't connected to the internet at all, and I have never had one single issue with Waves plugins working just fine on it.
    You must be trolling.

So it is very different and you can't say bullshit without knowing all.

You make no sense in your statements. I run Waves plugins on 3 different computers with no internet and no issues.

Do you deactivated the ethernet driver ?

Do you read my post ?

When you read my post than you can see that i have problems with latency.
So i deactivated drivers, so Waves plug ins stop working.

So you can be happy that your systems works fine.

No, you don't need a dongle. You can activate licenses to a USB flash drive.

it is not about the internet, it is about the network card MAC and the fact that he uninstalled the drivers for it. Waves cant reach the network card, cant read its MAC and cant authorize.

    Dongle or USB flash drive.
For both i must have an external hardware.
But you are right , a dongle is not absolutely needed.

oh wow..... this must be terrible for you, having to use external hardware... in the form of a tiny usb stick....

could you come back when you have actual external hardware

You can use external hardware, but i don't want that.
A pc is a system where changes can be made. When there are plug ins which worked and after deactivating
drivers they don't work that is a no go for me.

    That is only my opinion.

if you have to deactivate your network drivers to reduce latency it might be better to buy a new comp, or get some external hardware, they tend to use very little cpu power since they are external hardware (i'm talking about synths and such)

    yes, thank you.
At the moment my system is very good. It is an I7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD.
There is no need for a better system. I can use a lot of vsti and effects.

My wish is no external hardware, because nothing can be broken.
When i have external hardware i play these hardware and i use exactly one sound.
When the hardware gets defect i cannot find an identically sound with another hardware, maybe.

Only with a computer i cannot lose sounds and nothing can be broken.
With a backup i have exactly the same instruments and sounds, that is a big benefit for me.

Since when are a network card external hardware? On you machine it must be built in on your motherboard. The drivers for it wont effect anything you do with audio. Regarding software that use the network card for MAC adress many exelent plugins use that, Like Ample sound etc. If you are really serious about a solid system look elsewere for your latency problems. Its rather unlikely to have anything to do with the network card or alike.

I guess you use some kind of midi boards etc on usb ports so start looking there for better drivers in case of latency issues..

    Good luck..

I use a Zoom UAC-2 Midi Audio USB 3 Interface and i deactivated the internal sound driver.
Ample sound plugins works great with every change i made.

In my vast experience with computers a bad network card driver can cause problems, so I believe him to an extent. But I can't remember when was the last time I encountered a bad network card like that. On the other hand, wi-fi network cards can cause crackling easily and it's recommended to turn it off whenever you want to make music. Actually, turn off whatever you're not using when making music if you want the best audio performance. You can get same problems with USB drivers of various kind, too, like when you have too many USB ports working at the same time. Any driver can be written in such a bad way that it can cause CPU spikes and crackling. However, as I already mentioned, wi-fi, USB, FW, and some network card drivers are usually the problem. It takes a bit of time to find the problematic one when you have a problem like that.
