themusicfire is just cluster fuck of ads every turn I tried to make. Utterly useless for me.

@Herr Durr .. I do have ad blockers. I use a tablet to surf, but I am re-directed every touch of the screen making this place an impossibility to move around in.

OK guys thanx for the heads up on vk.com. Now on looking into it it looks like some kind of social media site based in Russia. Can anyone give me a quick run down on how to get music off the site. How to sign up without giving away personal info or using a phone number for verification. And what extensions, browsers, download managers etc to use?????????????????????????????

I had never heard of VK before this thread. I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate and I'm guessing I have to join groups to find the tunes and then use a downloader as mentioned above. I haven't gotten that far yet as it was a major pain to sign up. To sign up you could create an email and then use a free sms service to have the authorization sent to. It wasn't working for me and I had to have them call to dictate the code which I was able to do using the same sms service (IDK if it's against rules to list it and better safe than sorry since it's my first post.) You can find a service pretty easily.

 

I've been observing the great amount of "320"s that are just 128 originally or ripped from youtube just re-compressed. not the proper release packages but with single files it happens often.

That's what Deezloader is for, it grabs 320kbps directly from Deezer. And it's a node.js app, which means you don't use a website that goes down in a week - you create the website yourself for several minutes while you download, then you stop it. The devs are on time with updating the code so it works at all times, check it out guys.

 

Thanx BuffetFan - that just about confirms my initial feeling that it just was too much hassle to be bothered with. I was enjoying using Tidido streaming service and recording with Replay music recorder but proxies do not seem to work for Tidido anymore. The advantage of Tidido over Spotify was that that it steamed at 320kbps whereas Spotify free is only 128kbps and the ads get very annoying. BTW do any of the guys know if these sound card recorders such as Replay take a bit perfect recording or is there degradation????

I was waiting to see if someone could offer up more insight into VK, and that hasn't happened so I think I'm going to forget about using it.
As for grabbing streams, I've never done it. But after reading this I'm going to try it since I'm already paying for a streaming service. My only concern is the quality and ensuring that I'm grabbing it at a constant bitrate bc I'm not going to be playing it solely on headphones.
