I've been trying to make my Kontakt plugin find libraries for ages now, but without any effect . I've tried using many versions of Kontakt, did every step that was in the description, even tips from comments didn't helped at all. So could anyone here make a quick guide for dummy how to properly install and run Kontakt to finally make it load libraries? I would really appreciate it!

Of course I've managed to actually activate Kontakt, I still could load and play single instruments from packs, but there are also many great packs that won't play until I load its library (Metropolis ARK II for example). Despite fact that some packs let me load single instruments, it's still impossible to add its library, as it "can't be found". It doesn't even find free original library I've once acquired. So what can be solution for this?

I also did all required steps between uninstalling and reinstalling Kontakt (removing all NI folders from C:, every NI folder from regedit.exe).

I'm running Windows 10 on my laptop.

I dont even use the library tab. I manage all my libs in the quickload. Its customizable, faster and more efficient

The lib tab is just eyecandy scrolling, and scrolling and scrolling....

Try running Kontakt as Admin before adding the library.
It could also be a permissions issue. Make sure your profile has Full Control of the root library folder. Right-click > Properties > Security Tab
Sometimes files like the .nicnt are blocked when you download them and need to be unblocked. Right-click > Properties > Unblock
Also make sure in Kontakt go to Preferences > Database > Add the root library folder and update. Kontakt should be running as Admin and make sure NOT to have the standalone and plugin versions open simultaneously when doing this.

Finally, if all fails, use a custom .nicnt like the video above describes. There's also NICNTGenerator you can use to create your own here.
If you have troubles, make a copy and zip up your existing library folder NOT INCLUDING the SAMPLES or INSTRUMENTS folders and link it in a PM.

Actually, after latest Windows 10 update I need to run Kontakt as administrator to add a new library.
Even I have to rename temp.sc3 (or something like that) on desktop to library_name.xml and manualy put into c:/.../service center folder.
Does anyone have similar situation?

 

@nikon, I run my DAW as administrator all the time due to problems with Kontakt and a few other plugins. It's not exactly a correct and most secure way but I just took a short cut. I believe this may be a better and cleaner solution:

On my machine, if the temp.sc3 file is created on the desktop, it's automatically created in the service center folder as well. I'm not sure why a system update would change anything here (I'm on Win 10 Home Ed. and it's been working flawlessly). Try following @Pinkman's advice and see if it's working for you. It may be the case IMO.

 

With some libraries I do. I mostly use KLM 3.0 by DoubleY and when this doesn't work I take a random .xml from the service center folder and copy the content from the faulty libraries NICNT (created by KLM) to this .xml file, save it under the libraries name then put it in the service center folder. Running Kontakt as admin to me is simply ticking the box in properties and run it as admin the first time in standalone mode when adding libraries.

Nevertheless some libraries still disappear or cannot be added and I usually browse this forum looking for answers (@Pinkman definitely seems to now his way with Kontakt and even seems to offer personal help) so there's always options. I also should take a better look at some of the other tools like MINI-NICNT and the TinyToolz collection.

Most annoying persistant issue for me is samples not loading for some libraries and none of the solutions I tried so far seem to work. I usually disbandon these libraries cause I'm also quite compulsive about a fully functional library with a nice wallpaper collection ;)

 

I've had this happen before too. Windows since 7 have had issues with programs writing to the Program Files folder and I installed the Group Policy Editor to get around this fact. The temp file is superfluous unless an exact copy of it wasn't created in your Service Center folder. Then you can manually rename it and place it. I run Kontakt as admin all the time and I gave all Administrators full permissions for the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center" directory. That way the temp.sc3 file deletes itself whenever I restart and whenever I install more than one library it just overwrites itself so it really is useless (unless an xml wasn't created in Service Center)
