Does anyone know of a different option? It should be able to detect the key of the midi file and transpose accordingly?

 

Well, not key detection but this will snap to keys/chords. It can also transpose by inversions. Also has the ability to spead the chords out to make room for the other selected midi clips.

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. I'm not sure about organizing MIDI but in response to key detection I've usually just used Live's Spectrum Analyzer to figure it out. You could also use a tuner. I've also used Hornet's Songkey MK2 just to see how well it works. It's a VST plug you can drop into your DAW and it actually works moderately well.

 

Yeah Ive played with this before. Works moderately well is right. It seems to detect the key by percentages of how much the notes appear in the passage, I think. I was able to trick it pretty easily by throwing chord progressions I made with all inversions at it. But it would work well if you dont write like that.
