Wow, You act like you know me, You don't

First let me thank you for your discouraging words. not.

I make my living with music, I am on stage singing 6 nights a week, 5 hour shows. and have a trained voice most would like to have. In the last 12 years I have performed over 3,000 shows.

I am a seasoned pro. I had almost a decade of private Instrument lessons as a young adult. I have spent many years on the road as a player and sound tech. I have ran FOH mixes in 10,000 seat arenas.

I worked 13 years at a recording school/recording complex teaching engineering and production. I also hold an affiliate professorship from Capitol University for my years of professional experience.

I also have made many music commercials and have done a lot of audio for video.

However, I only have 2 or 3 days a month off, some of us have very limited time. Some of us are older.

One thing I have realized for most of my life is that MUSIC IS ART AND HAS WORTH! If you can lose your art and not feel it, more power to you. I care about my music more than that.

If you consider music as just data, than some of my data is kinda old. But my songs are not old, in fact they are so new most people have never heard them! This does not make them worthless.

To everyone Yes, I can recreate those songs if I had a lot of spare time. I don't. They probably wouldn't sound the same any way. The moment is lost. I do however appreciate your words of encouragement. Thank you all very much.

    I don't need to.

You stop making music because your data is lost. You wrote it yourself. I summarize:
    * So experienced
    * Too lazy to make backups
    * ...what should I write now???

If you read the facts, your decision seems stupid. And that's fact.

Anything else that puts me or my music down, I suppose.

As I've told you (but your tears seems to have occulted my words) : NOTHING IS LOST.
If your songs are of so much value for you, then ask a recovery company for a free estimate. It will cost you $400~500 to recover 1 TB of data.
I guess it should not put into bankruptcy a real pro like you...

LOL, I did not. You did it yourself, mate.

I summarize again, maybe it's easier for you to understand:

    * My harddrive crashed!
    * I stop making music because of that"

    Yeah, seems legit!

    ...not.

You don't need words of comfort, you need a gentle ass kick to continue! My pleasure...
So please stop crying and continue making music. Please.

Thanks Lord Gaga, I got what you said the first time around. That is one of the options i will defiantly consider if necessary. I am still waiting for the damage report from my computer tech, It probably is not as bad as I thought. I have repaired the external HD I thought was gone, however my project files are on my C: drive. I might be able to recover them also, I hope.

My spirits are a lot better now, things are almost back to normal. My first post was written after being without electricity for four days in 104 degree heat. Now I am sorry I even told anyone here. I thought I had friends here that would understand.

Your advice is well taken with much respect.

Good news everyone who is interested. The motherboard is gone. HD is OK. I got Lucky.

If I replace the board with an identical one, I have a 90% chance of getting everything back without re-installing anything.

I really hope this works. Thanks again for everything, I think I might be back in the game soon.

Update: I went to pick up my computer, It ran fine with all software intact at the computer shop. I was so relieved.

When I got it home, DOA! It will not power up at all. So I'm back where I was only, $175 dollars poorer.

Computer is back in the shop.

Still hoping to have my DAW Back, and maybe make some music some day. I hope.

Life has stuck it's harry finger right up my nose, again. I have so many things going wrong now you would not believe.

Never throw away your Hard Drive.

Somtimes :) you can get the data back using deep data recovery tools.

And for the future, always make a backup every week or 2 ;)

Buy "green" 5400rpm Hard Disks to make backups on them.

    Peace.

I am back 100%, with backup now and heavily surge protected.

I had the board replaced twice. Back to normal with all data. Thanks Everyone.
