Hello all, I've been trying to get kontakt 5.3 up and running on a new computer and its been a bit of a nightmare. Installing kontakt is no issue but when I try to patch the exe/dll files the patcher is mysteriously erased from my computer and the patcher isnt allowed to run. At first I thought windows defender was the culprit so I disabled it and even made a registry key that supposedly keeps the automatic malware protection on windows from initializing (a trick i found through some research online). But none of those solutions helped....

Deactivating mbam and comodo firewall also didnt fix the issue. Im not sure why this is happening but it is very bizarre. When I say the patcher disappears I mean if i extract it to any location outside of the zip folder it simply gets deleted. I was able to run the patcher in safe mode a week ago but when I booted normal windows up my kontakt was still in player mode

I used the same download of kontakt on my windows 7 desktop and its worked fine for months. If anyone has some input on this situation it would be most appreciated. I've looked into getting a different version but i feel like if I cant get a completely cracked version/keygen version then it wont work. Ive deleted all kontakt registry keys btw. Thanks.

 

Got an antivirus? It seems to be doing its job. ;-)

Edit: Make sure there's no antivirus software running in the background. If possible, use the recent Kontakt to be found on the sister site. It works beautifully out of the box.

i agree.
Create an exception in anti-virus.(Meaning: don't scan this file/folder for virus)
Or temporarily deactivate anti-virus (but you will have to extract the file every time you wanna use it)
P.S. Kontakt is now at v5.6.5

 

Ooops, I didn't see suefreeman's post before I edited mine who provided a detailed explanation.

 

So I tried the patcher again in safe mode and it worked, seems like there is some antivirus blocking it (probably mbam)

Now i just have to see if the patcher works this time. Last time i patched it according to instructions it was still in free mode. I assume thats because I could only patch in safe mode which seems to mess with some installations.

 

Just to make sure if it says kontakt player when i open the plugin yet the info says the license is full that means its the full version right?

I think I may have messed up when I opened the plugin in FL and let the NIhelper do something instead of blocking it :/

I feel like at this point i might have to reset my harddrive if i want kontakt. I dont think im game for that considering that I still have kontakt on another computer lol (also dont have the install disk for windows).

I found some registry keys associated to NI that werent under the domain of the other NI plugins i have. If anyone could offer insight on what else I could do that would be amazing! Im definitely out of tricks at this point.

btw thanks to everyone who've contributed so far, Ive been keeping up with what everyones suggested.

 

@barrano247 There were releases of Kontakt like TRACERS version that had an SNO-SERIAL patch and would activate Kontakt to the full version but still show Kontakt Player on the GUI. One way to test this is to simply add a library that the developers say will not work with Kontakt Player and see if it does.

If it's the full version you should be able to open the Wave Editor and use it for more than 15 mins without any kind of DEMO timeout warning. Same for the Insert Effects ad Script Editor.
