got to see this guy some time ago at a sort of dumpy club in FloriDUH... indeed he was a stage master.. with a huge beaming smile.. unfortunately that night he was deferring more to his touring lead guitarist..
even so , happy I had the chance to see the man once .. !

I was never too much into "non-Marty" Megadeth. Thank you for that video, I'll investigate further about Poland's playing because that sax-style lick at 2:32 is absolutely brilliant! :D

    Lots of worthy mentions.

I would struggle to pick a top 3 even in genre ! Let alone of all time.

Here are a few with that haven't been mentioned. Seem to go under the radar a bit. Particularly interesting idiosyncrasies in their playing style.

    Joseph Spence
    Wilko Johnson
    Jim Mullen

+ guitar gods not mentioned (Excuse me if I missed 'em in previous posts).

    Danny Gatton
    George Benson

Marty one of my Favorites too bro but Poland is one in his own>>> jus like Marty >>> Poland has his own style too ;) He broke his finger>>> became part of his style an some say it made him better lol>>> he cant bend his Index finger jus the end of it, but yeah hes a great guitarist Def my Favorite Megadeth solo player \m/ Ive never been one to compare any Guitarist against one another but i see them as great at what each of them do in their own style ;) To me one style isnt better than the rest just personal preference on what ya dig \m/

As my list will attest technique and virtuosity aren't my thing. The three that have inspired me most with their compositions are:

    Keith Richards
    The Edge
    Nile Rodgers

I've got no top 3, but you stringslingers should check out:
Lonnie Mack, who inspired Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Ry Cooder, Jimmy Page, and of cours Stevie Ray Vaughn...
more introduction is not needed I think.

Of course Johnny Guitar Watson (who inspired Zappa to pick up tha guitar)

    And then there's Elizabeth Cotton....
