So,
Olymoon seems to be a nice guy (at least some times), but as a AZ user you're not allowed to freely speak your opinion on threads.
Again I got blocked for telling the truth.
This is just the lamest thing to do.
Free speech (obviously without offending any member) makes part of all good education, and if I have an opinion in a specific post, I (And many of us) just get blocked.
Do you agree with me and also think that this kind of attitude is just lame???

 

I've also found Oly to be "liberal" in his interpretation of the rules. I don't use that site much so it doesn't bother me, but if I had to guess, I'd say he enjoys having discretion over what is and isn't allowed.

He does a good job of cleaning up all the trash, but he also tries to enforce things that aren't rules. And I have never been one of these dweebs that cries about mod censorship all the time. But you know, men and their tiny kingdoms...

audioz is no public place, hence no free speech.
E.g: If you start berating me in my own home you'll be kicked out. Simple!

 

Being a good Mod isn't easy. You have to do a real balancing act at times to uphold the rules yet at the same time not make posters feel their opinions are worthless. For me I never had any issues here with any of the mods and I plan on keeping it that way. I'm just a guest here in my eyes and not looking to make it harder on them.

You want to see bad mods in forums check out gaming related forums. To a Nerd becoming an unpaid forum mod on a gaming site to them is reaching God status in their minds.

I think Oly just wants to coerce people to only make comments related to the post. Some people leave pointless comments, while others are just rude and and turn the comment section into a spiraling chaos of hate. There actually is something related to this mentioned in the Rules, if anyone bothered to even read them.

I don't think people realize how difficult it can be to be a moderator. Often you have to deal with people who are either too stupid to follow the rules, or too stubborn and don't like being told what they can and can't do.

Personally , I have seen nothing but even handedness from Oly, but then I try to give him the respect
he is due in his position. If people aren't willing to do that.. and abide by the rules.. well..what do you expect ? If your comments
are inappropriate according to his interpretation of the rules.. they will be removed. Same goes for AS... and mods, being human, are
far from perfect.. , yet doing their best in most cases to apply the rules fairly... at least that's what I am seeing..

I get it.. some artistic temperaments will always chafe at rules or restrictions, but it doesn't mean they are excused
from the consequences of ignoring said rules

I had my dissapointments with Olymoon due to the same things you say and I´m not here for defending nobody, but as he and me are from the same country, we can talk in our native language. And if you are reasonable, Olymoon too.

In my opinion, it´s more a trouble of fault of moderators. Audioz is a very high place for only four. Three of them you don´t know never and Olymoon is the one than see and read all the posts. Too much work for only one person. So, in one or other moment, there will be problems because among thousand of users, it´s impossible to avoid conflicts.

 

You should be thankful he is not Kim Jong-un.

the reason was given: 'no foul language'

I'm fed up with this bullshit "freedom of speech" that idiots are always quoting. There is no such thing when you are on someone else's site. Its upto the website owner to set whatever rules he feels like, its like someones house. If you walk into my house and started swearing, i'd just throw you out. I i walked into your house and did something you didn't like, you would probably throw me out.
If you went into a crowded cinema and shouted "fire" and caused panic, you would likely be arrested and charged.

Freedom of speech is a responsibility, to be exercised carefully, not a right.

He told some user not to write in all caps. Or all bold. I forget which... it was one of those two. Writing in caps is unsightly and annoying, but not against the rules. Should he have the discretion to decide that guy can't do it?

I told him that's not a rule and that a mod shouldn't use the weight of his position to enforce his personal preferences. He gave me the old "I wasn't telling him as a mod I was just asking him not to do it". I called bullshit on him and he gave me his usual stubborn, self righteous justifications that culminated in a rhetorical question to the effect of "should one person be able to shout over all the others?"

As far as I could tell, nobody was denied the ability to express an opinion just because someone was writing in all caps. Or bold or whatever it was.


That's all I'm saying. Outside the context of his mod duties at AZ he's always been cool as far as I'm concerned. I haven't had a comment removed and haven't ever been warned or whatever unjustly. If and when I did bump heads with him over my own posts, it was definitely because I was being an asshole. I own that. All I'm saying is... does he not seem like a bit of a self righteous prick to some of you?
