    @ Zalbadar,

Not so sure... what about these 'new' emerging Teams as 'iND', 'MAGNETRiXX',... ? (Just to mention those). Of course, it's not yet an avalanche of new releases, but those they have done recently are mostly very good and more than interesting, at least from my point of view. *yes*

From a same point of view, what about others users (not necessarily involved in Teams) that frequently release new versions or rather updates of existing applications/programs thanks to the invaluable 'ASSiGN Legacy' among others ?
And never forget that Team AiR is always here despite what people think and say about it. It seems, but maybe I'm wrong, that it's now somewhere in a kind of peaceful 'background' and that it comes out from time to time to solely make 'big shots' as is the case with some of its recent releases (the long awaited 'PreSonus Studio One 2 v2.0.5 among others).

    *no* Not necessarily true !
If a Team can get a Demo version of an application that is fully functional for a certain time as is the case for some (usually 7-10 days, or sometimes more), why would you that it spends £1000 to crack it ? As is a 'fully functional' version, the only things it must to know is how to 'overcome' the limitation of time and others eventual added noises or momentarily sound mutes,...

Here you're right ! But to be a 'skilled' cracker, you must first to have been or still be a 'skilled' programmer... and this without taken in account the need to use good decompiler applications (and similar) that he needs to see and understand what he will exactly find in the 'bowels' of the application to be cracked... and this, in some way, has nothing to do with spending £1000 !

Sleeping or dead – means nearly the same to us = no releases, no updates at all!

But those days of the past when ASSiGN cracked and released almost every day - and in a row - are gone. They simply were too excessive, flooding the scene also with useless crap. It is far better to concentrate on good (high quality) products! Which doesn't mean that with simple stuff you can't make good music.

The fact that ASSiGN had delivered very buggy DMG-Installers (MAC) shows that their programming skills were not the best!

I never had a problem with any release from ASSIGN other than the u-he ACE release and the FabFilter ONE release which were both fixed.

Other than that...never one issue. Of course, I'm PC not MAC.

ALL the latest MAC DMG-Installers by ASSiGN were a total failure!
None of them worked - the plug-ins were installed into a completely wrong direction.

Maybe they were good enough for PC computers but definitely not for MAC. *no* *no*

Yawn....the Scene is dead - who cares?
We have plenty of tools +now more time for Music! :phones:

That doesn't mean their cracks are bad.
It happened also with their PC releases - mainly when x64 DLLs were placed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins instead of C:\Program Files\VstPlugins -, but who cares ?
If you're not an utter naab it will takes you 10 sec to fix it.

And the stufff which isn't proper, like Soundtoys for example. Or Diva.

I guess that depends on the protection scheme. Every new Live 8 gets cracked very fast. But if they gonna use a dongle for 9 - then it's bye bye Live and time for Bitwig I guess.

    That's quite a myth I guess.

For starters, cracking is not the same as distributing.

And of course cracking isn't illegal in a lot of countries. A lot of groups explicitly don't want their stuff to distributed btw.

Have you checked your Internet? There's tons of films, tons of games, tons of software, tons of music released every day after day, and obviously the distributors are not afraid of doing their thing.

Why should it be different with audiowarez? One reason perhaps: only very few people are interested in audiowarez, compared to xvids and stuff, so there's not so much fame to gain. I'm sure if Max Payne or Oblivion 2 would be distributed with an 'uncrackable' dongle - that thing would be cracked fast. *yes*

    dokx1,

You're 100% right. I don't want to underestimate AiR's talent (they were obviously VERY talented), but if Syncrosoft had not been the goal of only one man (Gouda) it would have been defeated within a month instead of years.

Provided Bitwig isn't actually Live 9, of course.

Hope not, that name Bitwig gets the 1st price for the "most stupid name for a daw" competition (former winner: Fruity Loops).

Who cares what it's called, so long as it works and sounds great. Would you rather they instead spent lots of money to a marketing firm to come up with the coolest name to sell it more effectively?
