Sorry, but there is no plugin or hardware that has a knob with the "sound better" function. At the end, everyone decides by ear. If I do a shit song, even if I pass through a studio of 300,000 € will still be shit. If I make a song, with rhythm, catchy, "a hit", it is the same if it sounds good or bad, it will be a hit. You can whistle, listen with cheap speakers, and will remain a hit.

I do not remember who said it, "it's better to sound new, than to sound good"

On the other hand, I still think there are magic equipment. :)

That's all true, but there's a lot of plugs out there that compress, unnaturally scoop EQ or just make things louder that give newbies the impression that it's making their music sound "better". I think the gist of this thread is, the only thing that will make a mix actually sound better is good mixing. There's no shortcut.

    Zukunft and Iggy.

Difference between digital and analog world is that good quality equipment will work for you as opposed to working against you.
D361A is like putting your mix trough that gear for extra depth, saturation, filters, harmonics, it just adds that weight to your mix which is missing in the digital world where things just sound....flat.
Of course its about mixing technique but D361A adds that missing ingredient, you could say its magic ;)
It was designed by AlexB (Alessandro Boschi) who is a half god.
Enough said, test it and try it.

You dont have to work hard(like Ivan and Rocky) to play(sound) hard, if you use the right tools ;)

I think you can screw things up with analog gear just as badly as you can with digital plugs ... possibly worse, because someone might buy a Pultec or a 16-track analog tape deck and think that's the answer without bothering to learn how to use the gear properly. I'll agree with you that an analog emulation, no matter how good, isn't quite as good as the real thing. Computer-based audio should be its own distinct sound and operate within its own parameters, instead of companies wasting all their resources trying to (badly) emulate vintage analog gear. Otherwise, it'll never move forward.

All that said, the D361A looks like a monster ... I'm sure it'll end up on my very long wish-list of gear I hope to get.

I apologize for not figuring it out right away.

I dont think you can buy it anymore, pm me if you`re interested in testing it.
Also, yea you are right. Its all about how you use it, experience and trained ears go very far in music production and people tend to underestimate the human element.

You might want to try it first. I love Acustica stuff but this one never worked any magic for me.
