That's right, I need a proper 909 kick.
What are the best samples you got for that kick so far?
For me Wave Alchemy - 909, Goldbaby - Tape 909 , Goldababy - Super Analog 909.
I've tried to make it in synths such as Kick 2 and PunchBox but didn't get quite the best results yet.

For processing those kicks I am using CLA-1176 (or Slate Digital 1176 Blue Modern), Saturation (Fabfilter Saturn mostly), Pro Q 2 + some EQ with more character and sometimes masserati DRM.

I agree on the mentioned packs, bought them myself. Here are some other options:
RAW Loops - TR-9to5 drum hits > they have also kick packs with 909's included, especially made for techno
(Techno packs deliver a lot of heavy 909's btw, you can find them on Loopmasters for example)
My Digital Enemy Presents - Back To The Old School > has a kick folder but the amount of kicks isn't that big, good quality though

I saved some images from an older tutorial that explains how to create one with D16 Group Drumazon (using Pro-Q, Stillwell Audio 1973 and Pro-C). Seems the page isn't available anymore online.

Because of my background in hardcore music I also like the way how they really f*ck up simple 909's to big distorted kicks that fill the whole frequency spectrum. Some tricks > several distortion units like Trash or Reaktor and between them eq's (removing a lot of lows in the first step and add them back at the end). Or Microtonic vs Filterbank3, 1176LN, multiband compressor. Hardstyle is even more complicated. But 9 out of 10 (or 9 hehe) they always start with a clean 909 sample.

 

Yep couldn't agree more for the Goldbaby sample packs. My favorites for the 909.
I compress them with the onboard analogue emu in Samplitude (for those I usually go for Am Phibia because t includes a preamp that you can tweak and it recreates a famous optical compressor with a lot of additional possibilities, perfect for getting flavours), for saturation I go for Maul (fxp) and I also like Vertigo VSM3 (by plugin alliance) incredible sat unit, sometimes satin. The eq part I usually go for equilibrium (who has all the curve I could dream of included old school gear) or equality by dmg...
