Lol, just don't buy the update plan, they don't update anything in their old plugins (Renaissance stuff, SSL collection etc.) anyway. Once every 5 years or so they'll change the look of that toolbar on top of their plugins. No big deal, no need to update. Their "stupid download manager" is a nice thing since now you don't need to install a 2 GB installer just to install an EQ. Just log in, click plugins you want to download, then move your licenses to your PC or onto a USB stick. That's it.

I think it'll be interesting if we all sign up and report back which plugins we got, just for the lulz. (We all have all the "free" Waves plugins we want anyway)

You just know it's going to be one of those plugins no one buys anyway. The ones they shove in every bundle yet nobody ever uses.

 

RBass? TrueVerb? Those are hardly "one of those plugins no one buys anyway"

 

I had in mind something like their AudioTrack, which I never see mentioned ever, even though I'm sure it can be useful.

If you have waves warez they will all disappear. The new Waves installer states it will uninstall all of your current vst's and re-download and reinstall them. A fools choice for a freebie if you do waves warez. They tried this last year too.

I dislike Waves as well... but, I gotta start tryin the RBass... many people have mentioned it.

Don't get their free stuff it's only to lure you into their system.
Waves are crooks, will never buy anything from them ever again. At one point I bought the Guitar Solo plugin and then they upgraded the license system. They were forcing me to update the plugin and also paying for a yearly subscription. I refused and so I lost the software because I could not authorize it again. They should have given users at that time that didn't want to upgrade a permanent serial/license number.. But they are corporate bitches thinking only about profits and not about music and musicians they should serve not exploit...the hell with them.

 

True that. Like I've commented before - their business model is to price shit that no sane person would pay, then put it on "sale" at just regular old expensive prices. People pay more than the plugs are probably worth and still feel like they're getting a deal.

That said, I do have a couple waves plugs. I got H-Delay for like 30 bucks, which actually was a pretty good deal, although IMO not a whole lot less than the plugin is worth.

 

They deserve the AZ punishment

Didn't try that but certainly it's not Waves Central that uninstalls warez, the method with installing form legit then using a patcher installer works flawlessly and doesn't touch already installed plugins at all.
