Looking for advice on how to make this stab sound heard in this track:

    [youtube]

Starts at 2:38. I can't seem to get the raspy thick characteristics of the sound. I pretty positive the sound was made in Sylenth and/or Spire. Can't really tell if it is 1 or 2 layers.

The stab that I currently have kind of sounds more like a pitched lead stab that is a bit thinner. I can't seem to get it right.

Also is there any pitching to the oscillators to make this sound?

Will appreciate any advice. Will also appreciate if anyone could provide a sample patch that I could perhaps use as a starting point to learn how to recreate a similar sound?

    Thanks.

    Start here:
    - 4 saw oscillators
    - proper stabby ADSR (fast-ish decay, short release)
    - unison 7 voices each oscillator
    - coarse pitch -1, 0, +1, +2 octaves on each oscillator
    - have a distortion unit around (Sylenth has one)

Experiment from here with things like:
    - volume balance between oscs
    - increase/decrease the detune between voices
    - vary the number of voices on some osc but leave the 0 osc to 7 voices
    - oscillator coarse pitch
    - level of distortion
    - low pass filter

Thats not really a stab imo , sounds like a unison synth to my ears

Supersaws stacked on a few octaves. Add a amp/volume, sync'ed LFO/envelope (16th-notes). Adjust decay and decay slope to taste.

It's not really the shape of the oscillator, but how the amplitude/volume is acting.

My solution would be cycle through Nexus presets. Gotta be in there somewhere. :D

thanx @Baxter for the tip :like: ..did not thought of this immediately. Tried it and I think I managed to get pretty close (just added a bit of a simple delay 3/16 to fill the gaps)

Just of out of curiosity - what synth/rompler would you use for a thing like this? Not so much for the sound but the LFO-enveloper? Or would it be better to use another tool to control the vol modulation? I'd really like to know what would be your choice.

btw I think most of those interested in "how to make.." are in fact interested in "get me the preset.." - great way to learn
