    just curious on how exactly you patch omnisphere and what is it doing by patching it

    Well, as in any cracked software. They either give you 100% done, install and it works, or they give you clean actual installer from the manufacturer and a program (patch) to make it think it's licensed. The way you do this depends on how they patched the software. Can be replacing a few files after installing, can be a program that does it for you. That's what readme is for.
