What type of app (or which particular app) is best for mashing up audio/video?

  1. You know like video mash-ups, what kinds of software/hardware people using nowadays to create that tripped out experience you might see out at a club?

AdobeCC suite. Everything you could possibly need plus lots of tutorials. By the time you get Premier and a couple add ons for that, you might as well just get the whole package for the same price, though there's things in there I'll never use.

assuming you have audio and video ready, and just wanna mix the shizz and add effects:
    1) if it's for LIVE performance, then definitely Resolume Arena,
    2) if it's for production, then Adobe After Effects or Blackmagic Fusion

  7. Cool, thank you. You guys have given me some great places to start looking.

There's a great one called Arkaous GrandVJ, be sure to check it out, because if the workflow in the others is killing your creative spark, this one might untie your hands and let you jam the way you wanted.

It is possible to pipe midi signals into it from say Ableton Live and then you can launch midi patterns in live that produce video mashup effects and fuck shit up on your screens like it's 1995.
