I am very fortunate and blessed, as my dear Sister Julia offered to buy me $200 of plug-ins for my birthday, but I don't know what to get. I originally was going to just grab the Voxengo Marqius Compressor for $60 and be done with it but she got pissed at me and is making me spent the entire amount (don't mess around with her, she is a fucking pitbull). Anyway, I was thinking of either the new Slate Verbsuite for $200 and own it outright, or for $179/yearly subscribe to the whole shebang and she would make it a predictable yearly thing. I brain is like a log on fire and I don't know what to decide. Please, help me out with the poll and I will get whatever my friends here decide is the way to go ahead. All I ask, beside the poll itself and if you can spend the time, is to explain why your choice. Namaste my Sisters and Brothers, and thanks for the time and the help. I need to know tonight or she will kill me...or worse...because I have been procrastinating on this for weeks now.

Edit: I will leave a blank if there is something incredible I am missing out on for a write in ballot. Please write and post any other ideas you feel strongly about.

I voted VerbSuite. I don't know much about Slate plugins, my decision was solely based on my personal preference of owning things. You never know what's happening next year or in 5 years, but as soon as those yearly rate isn't paid, you are sitting there with your projects that included a slate plugin that you can't access anymore.
What you own, on the other hand, will only vanish when you want it to disappear.

Something like a channel strip;Amethyst(100$) or a mastering compressor;Aquamarine 3(200$).

I'm against any subscription scheme like Avid or Eastwest because in the end it's just renting and you don't own the damn thing therefore I would go with the reverb (which is very convincing by the way).

Verbsuite does sound really nice.

I want to love the acustica stuff but Im still learning it. After reading the manuals I was actually more confused about the plugins. Has nothing to do with the plug-ins though. It's just my skills as an engineer in general that are lacking. I was born ITB, I didn't come from an analog realm. Unless you count daisychained guitar pedals

I voted for the yearly everything bundle.

It gives you a year to really find out what you like from Mr. Slate. After a year you can cancel and start buying what you like and would use. I am guilty of spending a lot of money on plugins and gear that just sit around and become either real or virtual paper weights. As I've gotten older I've settled on few thing that I actually really like and use the most often. I have not given up looking for faster and better it is just that criterion for leaving what I have to go to something else has gotten a lot more stringent over the years.
