Higher interpolation and sync point rendering is only beneficial if using transposed samples. For instances, if you're looking to get a clean, anti aliasing sound from a Marvin Gay or Janis Joplin sample, then a higher sync point interpolation is ideal. If you're composing your music from software vsti and recording from hardware then setting your rendering settings on anything higher than 6 point will suck all the life out of your beat or production. Any distortion, saturation, decimation or ambience in the music will be purged. Simple solution, render on the linear or 6 point setting.

Do this actually apply to stretched samples too? Since it changes many things in the pitch domain (or not). So, in a project where I got like 40% of my samples (90 tracks) stretched, is it useful?

Using FL since FL9 and always bounced in 512 and worked in linear...

 

it works and was more than likely created for the purpose of anti aliasing stretched samples in Fl Studio. Since altering samples in that way creates artifacts and a more jagged sound. Just render with the linear or 6 point setting.

 

I'm not a fan of a totally clean sound, distorted ambiences and saturation brings a track to life imo.

 

Better when you bring this unclean sound, not when it comes from a "bad" quality audio... So you can controll it, change the amount etc... I'd say just stick to 512 points bounces it just a bit more slow (well a lot) but there is enough pros to do so

image line has a very decent manual, but on the other hand I never saw a hardware manual beeing on facts

 

I read it and I use 512 because it sounds higher quality to me than it does at 6. It does take a bit longer but I have time.

Always Divide your project in 2 phases [Applicable to all DAW]
1. Pre Production - collect all your samples you wanted to use in your project. Compose all your melodies and other stuff and bounce the flp with WAV and MIDI in zip package. Now you have samples and other things as a Construction Kit

2.production - Extract that zip package and place that folder where all your libraries are resides Now open your FL studio take out those samples and MIDI from FL browser and start building your track.Now you will put all ur focus in production rather than searching for files in FL browser

 

huh? how does that help? that's actually a really silly trick.

if you organize your mixer and playlist wisely you would never need that.
(and that is easy since track lanes are not bonded to mixer-channels like Pro-tools/Ableton/Cubase)

much more useful, is that fl studio lets you render inside your project with the export function in the mixer.
they are directly inserted in the playlist, you only need to mute the rest disable the fx to free some cpu power and voila good to go.

The only good reason I could think of to start a new project is lack of memory, I actually have 8 gig
memory and never ran out/ except for ridiculous amounts of kontakt players. (which could be fixed by purging inside kontakt)

 

Sinc64 should be p.goot for listening & rendering. Sinc512 is overkill & uses too much CPU. Can't comment on Hermite6 since I don't use FL. But sometimes, aliasing sounds nice on samplers.

A lot of people transpose wav sounds they put on sampler channels. From drums to bass etc, people, myself included also bounce the midi from their plugins to audio tracks, in which higher interpolation affect as well. If you want your sound to be exactly as it is when rendered. Don't render higher than linear or 6 point.

 

I always have it set to 512. After I render it always sounds much better, more defined and hi-fi than when I am playing the song before it is rendered. Why is that?

 

Watch the freaking video. It sets the precision of resampling (changing pitch / timestretching). You most likely have resampling quality for playback set differently than for rendering. Basically, the higher you set it, the less aliasing you get (aka that high frequency noise when you downsample with a bit reduction plugin)
