Let me introduce you to a fine collection of interesting free plugins. They are done with Flowstone by a good friend. Yes, they are 32-bit, so you need a bridge, internal or external to your 64-bit DAW, and yes, the GUIs lack creativity, to say the least.

But the audio quality is top and the ideas are so cool. The link I provide will direct you to his website, directly to the Quilcom tab, where all his creations are listed and described. My tips for a start would be

Lol, I have a blue bottle mic and modded blue tube pre. I actually bought a blue mic cable to hook them up. I think I heard a choir of angles in my head when I did, LoL

I had a Blue Bluebird that I gave to a friend 'cause I didn't dig the smiley face voicing that the mic exhibits. He sent me a bouquet of yellow daffodils in return.

It is shrill and I get a ringing resonance out of it when I record really loud vocalists. I still like to use it as a second mic on acoustic stuff. To get the woody sound of fretboards etc. Kind of like the box it came in, come to think of it.

My Blueberry is bright but the curve makes it perfect for pop vocals, just notch a couple resonances and compress and they're good to go. I didn't realize how easy it made my job till I started using an SM7b because the Blueberry was way to sensitive, like it could pick up a needle dropped 5 meters away on the back side of the capsule.

@superliquidsunshine Next time try the Baby Bottle, it has a present 1-2khz which makes it really rock sounding for male vocals.

What I love about Blue mics is that they have character, typically mics under $400 don't differ much from each other but Blues do
