Come next week, there's a very good chance technology like this will be the least of our worries. We won't have to worry that the POTUS voice has been doctored into saying something inflammatory. The real thing will be saying it live in front of the whole world with his hand metaphorically hovering over the launch button because someone made a funny about his hair.

 

Just think about where this kind of tech will be in 10, 15 years...You'll be able to analyze some legendary vocalists performances like, let's say, Robert Plant in his best days, and then create whole new songs using his voice.

I feel like in the near future there will be no real need to learn or use any specific interface (voice, instruments, etc..) to make the music in your mind a reality, not using fake sounding sample libraries and vsts, but using technology which will be virtually indistinguishable from the real thing.

You've got to love the idea of a software being able to analyze say, a few Beatles or Stones songs and have it create new ones from the lyrics and melody you give it. This one announced sounds great on paper but will probably in reality be as bad as the text-to-speech software of today which, when advertised really does seem like it's a great thing.

But back to the idea of this new audio software. I think the capability to do a spoken word search in a recording would be the best revolution for the audio editors.

I'm particularly aware of what was going on in the 90's when people were hired to translate any phone call that included specific keywords (like bomb, assassination,etc) so even if they didn't had the technology at the moment to do a speech search via AI machines, they were still doing it using human resources.So don't be fooled to think that "when they'll have this kind of technology, they will do this and that".They were already doing it manually.Technology will just help them be more efficient, faster , and easier.
