So I've got a chance to get the Maschine MK1 controller very cheap, but for some reason, the guy is selling it without the software bundle. Can anyone confirm 100% that I can use it with the R2R Maschine software? Does R2R software include the driver and all other needed things to run the controller?

And also, would you recommend Maschine? What do you use it for most?

Personally, I'm hoping it will give me some inspiration working out of the box for a change, as I know I can do more in Cubase 8.5, but lately I've been having problems getting ideas for new tracks (I make melodic trance/psytrance/ambient BTW).

This is something I wondered about also seeing how I sold my legit Maschine controller about 2 years ago. Have been itching to pick up a used on cheap without the software if possible.

Machine works with all software as MIDI Controller. You only need Controller editor software to map midi CC.
You don't need any registrations to use it in Maschine 2 software.

So let me see if I have this correct. If I'm running R2R's maschine software and I plugin a unregistered Maschine MK1/MK2 that I got cheap with no code or software it will work exactly as it should? I know when you install the maschine software it gives you the option to install the drivers for the different maschine controllers.

I just want to be 100% sure before I pick up a Maschine 2nd hand off Ebay that has no serial code.

The Machine hardware and software both have separate serials.
There is a serial number on a sticker on the back of the controller itself.
There is also a completely different serial for the software that is on the discs and packaging.

*Maschines come with free NI software in the form of Komplete Select/Selection depending on the time of manufacture. This also has it's own serial.

You can activate both the hardware and software as well as the entire range of Komplete plugins with the current R2R keygen.
Keep in mind that if the controller is provided without any serials that it is likely still tied to the original owners NI account.
This means that you will NEVER be able to legitimately activate the hardware or software and be restricted to used the cracked releases with keygens to activate until he unregisters it from his account.

In short: YES. It will work fine with the cracked releases but if the owner is serious about selling all he needs to do is unregister the HARDWARE CONTROLLER and the SOFTWARE APPLICATION from his NI account and you can have a legitimate AND/OR cracked Maschine setup with no worries.
The fact that he isn't providing any serial is a little worrying. All it would take is logging onto the NI site and clicking the 'Remove' button next the device and application names and he can provide you with the hardware/software and bundled plugins serial in one go.
Unless the device has been stolen and/or sold or handed off to an unknowing party who is now trying to sell it.

I found a Traktor S4 at the local pawn shop but when I called NI with the serial they said it was still tied to the original owners account and wouldn't be able to activate for my account until he removed it from his. I got it for $50 and used the k'd version to register and it works just fine except I can only be as current as the most recent cracked version of Traktor and can never get my updates from NI itself.
I don't use it to DJ so I put it into MIDI mode and then I can use it with any software.

The Maschine controller has 2 distinct modes of operation.
Maschine in MIDI mode is just a simple controller with MIDI assignable knobs, pads and buttons and integrates with the any piece of software in the world like a regular MIDI keyboard with pads would.
Maschine in Maschine mode allows for plugin/sample browsing and VST/VSTi chaining from the controller itself, plus all the sequencing and mixing capabilities of the software. It is made specifically to be an extension to the software. Kinda like PUSH for Ableton Live.

Just install the drivers for whatever Maschine controller you've got and off you go

PS it costs $99 to upgrade from Maschine 1.x software to 2.x software for legit users.

Good info there bro, you nailed it

I was as confused as hell when I purchased a previously owned Maschine, as neither I, nor the seller knew anything about the intricacies involved regarding the transfer of ownership. I wish I had read your above post first before I bought it

Not as nice as the Mk2, but deffo worth it if it's cheap. You can use with latest R2R version without a problem. When you install Maschine, just install the drivers etc and you're good to go. Works fine for me with my Mk1 Mikro anyway.

Thanks for all the info guys.

I just bought a Maschine MK1 off ebay for $115. For that price along with the R2R version which I been using I'm good it will do what I need it to do instead of always mousing around maschine.

Like I stated I use to have a legit Mikro MK2 a few years back. Paid top dollar for it brand new. When I sold it I did the whole unregister thing for the new owner. However the MK1's you see on ebay been threw so many hands by now very few come with serials or clean software and people asking too much for them.

I tend to look for inspiration elsewhere, but I sure a new controller couldn't hurt

hmmmm , so out of interest....I got a mk1 second hand with Maschine version 1.8. Installed on the mac and all good to go. Installed latest r2r on PC and works perfect too. Mac is portable and PC is landlocked. Question to the more knowledgeable. Getting mac update to Version 2.4.7 to be more in sync with PC and it definitely seems much better than version 1.8. Shall I delete the legit version completely from the mac and run the "alternative" version? Will this cause issues? Not sure if this will somehow screw up my legit version....if so I'll hold off...just hope you guys can assist..

@purerinsed have not heard of success mixing legit and non maschine soft, you can try it and see what happens,
but even odds you will hose your legit install... may as well just upgrade to the "enhanced" demo version
    and ditch the legit

    :woot:

    Enhanced Demo version?

Maschine 1.8 and Maschine 2 are treated as completely separate programs. You don't need them both but I had legit 1.8 on my system for months alongside R2R's Maschine 2 on PC.
I just made sure everything was activated and working in Service Center for the legit then I firewalled it.

    Enhanced Demo version?

Has anybody experience with replacing a dead Machine Controller through N.I. Tech Support?

I've got Maschine MK 1 legit with Maschine 1 and 2 Software. I wonder if I could get a replacement Controller from N.I. if it ever breaks? Not for free of course. It's way beyond warranty. Or do they want me to buy the whole thing again?

I'd like to upgrade to MK2 automatically since they don't sell MK1 any more. I really like the new pads and the click wheel it has.

NI don't offer repairs outside warranty full stop AFAIK.
They will offer to replace the unit but is likely will be a new unit at new build cost price.
Is definitely worth calling customer services just to check but I think that's how it is.
Your best bet that way could be a good local music store or dedicated electronics outlet etc
Hope u get something sorted
