Howdy, all you wonderful people! Firstly, I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I'm still not overly familiar with where to start threads in the correct topic, so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place!

But okay, my problem I'm having. I've never really gone extremely in depth into the tools and techniques with Melodyne. I've been searching literally for hours on tutorials to try and find how to do, or if you can do, what I'm trying to do. I have a part in my vocal track that I didn't realise I'd screwed up. I'd do it again right now, but sadly I don't have the means at hand. There's one section where my vibrato is off way much more than I'd like. I know you can edit the drift and modulation of clips, but I'm not getting the result I want. Basically I'm wanting to know if you can transform the drift line in a way that could for a work path in Photoshop. I want to try and manually manipulate all the fluctuations and curves. Is this possible to do at all? There's probably something I'm over-looking, but I can't find anything, so in a last ditch attempt I'm hoping that within the collective expertise here, someone will be able to point me in the right direction.

Damn it... This is typical. After writing all of that, I've magically fixed my problem. Sorry everyone for time wasting! Is it possible to delete this thread at all?

 

Why deleting? Instead, just post how you solved it, so that the next guy having the same issue can find it through keyword searching

Okay, the problem I was having was unwanted vibrato at the end of word, as shown here.

I corrected the vibrato by by using the modulation tool to flatten out the curve, then used the drift tool to raise the curve at the end of the word, giving me a more steady rise at the end of the note, like this.

Im actually drawing text shapes in photoshop right now to wrap around a shape. Designing a flyer and door hanger for local businesses. Thats funny!

 

@subGENRE I think I've got it now. Really love that you can embed sound clips on here! I fucking love this forum! I wish I could get into some kind of business like that. I used to do designs for bands I knew, but that well seems to have dried up at the moment. I'm toying with the idea of doing custom t-shirt prints. Something like that. I keep forgetting to buy transfer paper. I'll hopefully remember Friday when I get money again, and don't spend it all on alcohol... I say as I'm steadily getting more drunk while trying to sort all of this out... But for real, thanks again, man. I really appreciate the help.

I totally hear that, man. This vocal track definitely doesn't sound like it needs as much work as I thought it did when I started editing. Tiredness is creeping in though, I think it's time to call it an evening. Thanks again for your help, man. For now, I'm out.

 

The downside is that it isn't useful for archiving, as it gets deleted after 30 days of inactivity. The one who looks here for the solution to her problem in 6 months will probably find dead links.

Do you know of a more permanent solution at all? If not I'm happy to keep the files and re-upload if anyone needs them.

@phloopy thanks very much! Took me ages to figure out how to post it all, but got there in the end!

 

I use dropbox for everything permanent, I think google drive also has no time limit, and even allows collaboration.

 

Antares Autotune or Izotope Nectar Adv might be able to do the job, if you're able to switch tools?

 

Melodyne 4 is a powerful and fun tool.

 

Awesome, thank you for that. I can't get on that right now as I'm about to star working on a track with someone at home, but I will do first thing tomorrow. Very handy to know that Google Drive allows collaboration! That would definitely make some things easier for me. Thanks again!

@junh1024, I have Izotope Nectar Adv, I might have a play around with that. I've already fixed my problem I was having, but definitely good to know for future! I've not tried Antares Autotune either. It's always good to have options though! Cheers for the info on other programs!

@rhythmatist, I've only just really started to dive into Melodyne 4, and Hell yeah it is! I wish I knew of the things that you can do with it sooner! I've up pretty much every tutorial on Melodyne's site, trying to learn as much as I can in one go. I'm a bit studious
like that. Can happily spend hours a day bettering my production. I've always said that there's no end of learning when it comes to music!
