What the fuck is causing this? I made a video of it.
This buzzing only happens during loading/menu screens in video games. What the hell is causing it?

Take in mind, all volume controls are set to 0. This sound is coming from speakers though.

In the first portion of the video, the sound is coming from the built in display speakers. I then unplugged it and turned on my studio monitors where the same buzzing can be heard in the left speaker only.

 

Who the fuck uses the inbuilt monitor speakers any way? They are only good for mastering.

it's on other speakers as well. however, it doesn't happen with headphones. maybe this monitor generates a weird EM field when frames go through the roof lol

How is you display cable routed? Get it away from your audio cables.

 

I think its electrical interference.Firstly do you use ballanced cables for your speakers?
Secondly, do you have quality surge protection that earths power and also delivers optimal and constant AC to your devices?
Also play with cables.
Connect your speakers to a different outlet that is on a different outlet than your computer and display.

 

Nothing is criss crossed or close to each other for that matter.

Someone else suggested that it may be 'coil whine' from the GPU somehow getting into the audio signal but I can't figure out how this would occur.

Without the speakers even being in the mix, the problem is still there.

That is usually generated by the built-in sound card, and yes you can hear it only when you loading, cause that when you're hard drive is working, and transmitting data to your computer, i had the same problem, i still have the same problem with my built-in card, try stressing your hard drive, and if you hear the same sound, then you know what's causing it...

Well, I just turned on v-sync in a few video games that support it and the sound is gone, this supports the coil whine idea... v-sync is known for getting rid of coil whine on gpus. The question remains; how is that whine ending up in the audio signal? -.-

 

What kind of video card do you have? CPUs can offload audio processing onto some Nvidia cards with CUDA.

One way to test would be to disable the Nvidia HDMI SOUND connection in your Playback Devices and set your dedicated sound card/interface as the primary device.

 

Surely ATIs shader units would work the same?Plugins require open gl.I have heard from many that Cubase works better with ATI cards.

I've heard and in some cases seen that too. The majority of the time, they're using AMD processors.
My AMD didn't play nice (as in not all) with my Nvidia GTX and I had to physically remove and replace it with an ATI (now AMD) GPU.

Yeah. ATI' Stream or App Acceleration / Nvidia's CUDA Core are proprietary terms for basically the same tech. Shaders.

Its the powersupply unit of the monitor, which is built inside. U think its the speakers but it isn't actually. If you have warranty send it back. Or crank up the brightness.

 

AlphaOne; it isn't. It has nothing to do with the brightness. :P

Pinkman; it's a GTX1060 and I've always had everything disabled besides the device I use. Maybe I should send this fucker back and go back to ATI.
