At the moment I'm working on writing a song with lyrics, which isn't a dance track. Unfortunately it does mean I'm going to have to sing, sort of.
Nothing to post up yet, as still working on the arrangement and lyrics, and trying to figure out how I'm going to sing it.
This will be the first song I've written.

 

@Aliens I like how you have chosen a style of music for yourself and then continue to be very consistent with it.

Personally, i still need to finish the track I started for the Audiosex Metal Album. I recorded the instruments then realized i needed to transpose the key to a place more comfortable to for me to sing in. And I've been to lazy to re-record the guitars and bass. But i need to practice mixing so I will be doing it soon.

 

Must...resist...urge...to...post...demos...I have a song I like a lot. Deliberately very retro, but I sketched it out for other musicians to help and to replace some of my tracks. It just has not worked out like that yet. I have conflicted feelings about posting things like that. I have definite ideas where I want it to go, and some of my bad keyboards were just supposed to be suggestions for horns, etc. Underplayed my bass guitar because it's just supposed to be a guideline. Still working on backing harmonies. That kind of thing.

Thanks! I have the beat on repeat and just grove away with everything I try to fit in to the song. It's a hard life doing riddims ;)

 

@eboe - That repeat listening thing is sort of how I get to writing or finishing a song. When I get so far, I dump an mp3, quit the daw and stick it on repeat play on my phone.
I find being away from the screen and the temptation to tinker better for coming up with changes of direction, new parts, or more importantly, identifying the bits that jar and grate which are then earmarked for changing or editing out.

@Funk U - Necessity is the mother of invention, so despite poor technique and talent, it's what I ended up with.
I do like my sound, though, or rather what it could eventually become.

@subGENRE - Thanks for sharing that good vibe.

@all - Plenty of room left in this topic for a trial verse here, an early version chorus there. Get your snippets out.

 

So. I actually went out and bought a condenser mic today. Nothing special, just a samson C01, a short xlr cable, and a scissor stand to clamp to my synth bench. Will power through my old mixer out to the audio in on the Electribe 2 and back into the new mixer. Should be ineresting, or at least some more fun to add to my musical experiences. I guess it's inevitable that I will be doing vocals on the new track.

@The Teknomage , I had one of those CO-1's. I liked it a lot until it got noisy. It's got a blue light that turns on when it's powered so I use it as a indicator when there's phantom power so I don't plug my ribbon in. It was a decent sounding mic, though. Gotta be careful with the clip. Mine broke and had to order another.

 

@subGENRE , really like that. Have you plans to put vocals to it?

O.K. So here goes. This is my current track I'm working on "Our Sins". This is my 1st attempt at song writing. It is also my 1st attempt at singing, apart from "Imagine" which I had to sing at a works party over 10 years ago, so I'm somewhat mic shy at the moment. I got the mic today, never had to set one up before. It's routed into a small mixer, from there into my Electribe 2, then from there into another mixer, where it is mixed with the music from The Yamaha Rm1x and JV 1010, and it's done live no DAW.
Now there's no chorus as of yet, and I'm still in the writing process. Lets hope the link works.
