I've noticed a major shut down of my favorite torrent sites these days....either they are slow or I can't access them.

Kickasstorrents was my favorite....I suppose the copywrite police are cracking down.

 

Kickass has been down for quite awhile now. Mods and some people are using proxy sites to try and keep it up, but there are a good chunk of others that are up still

 

yeah, i noticed demonoid has been down the last few days as well....

people should post decent proxies here for the benefit of the community!

 

well ive been using extratorrent for awhile now, havent used demonoid in forever, some proxies of kickass, and always as a last resort thepiratebay lol, maybe isohunt if i remember it

 

I was wondering the same. So many fake sites now but I think Piratebay is still there with some proxy

 

Remember the starting point was the megaupload shutdown back in 2012 I think, then everything started slowly happening.
There's still good torrent sites depending on what you're looking for. For instance yify if you're looking for movies, or rarbag for something general (series and porn too as far as I could see) and for everything else you got rutracker which is the best choice ever in my opinion.
Pirate bay is dead already since they shut it down, never was the same despite you can still access via proxy and seeds don't last much unlike rutracker where you can find a several years old posted torrent and still 'alive'. Same for demonoid, only if you grab the things whenever they come out is cool but if you are some time late you're lost.

 

this might be helpful for someone reading , but in 8 hours i completed Berling Strings 1.0 (115gb) + Berlin Strings 2.5 Update + Synthogy Ivory 10xDVD , all this through rutracker.org , a cool search engine https://torrentz2.eu/ (my favorites pop-up free are torrentproject.se /idope.se /http://www.1337x.to from torrentz2 finds) For some really rare stuff you could search thru vitorrent.cc which i just saw seems to be down today, Demonoid has many awesome torrents you can still find with seeders , sample pack and mega tutorial volumes come to mind , also large releases like synthogy ivory , some time ago i used demonoid.pw but lately its been redirecting me to http://www.dnoid.me (megasamples crazyness http://www.dnoid.me/files/?category...external=2&query=MEGA+SAMPLES+VOL&uid=0&sort= ) Fozzy is still a legend

Unfortunately rumors are going around that the Russian goverment might lockdown rutracker , also lets see how Windows 10 turns out. If it goes subscription/online always and they start implementing all these software originality verification systems its gonna be a hard time for the pirate who doesnt wanna stay offline and keep using windows or mac instead of other os. Luckily i dont think we will ever run out of torrent trackers. Something u get used too is your favorite internet sites and places going offline getting shutdown or simply neglected from its owners. I mean i knew guys with thousands of releases on kat.cr , they had their blogs their userbase ,a good thing going on for 5 or more years and then one day you wake up and try to login and you see the fbi logo. some of your torrents might still be found on mirrors etc but imagine all the time and effort lost for that guy , thats why especially on the internet you shouldnt get used to anything.Today it is,tommorow it isnt

yep megaupload and rapidshare was a great blow to p2p also. Most people always talk about the shutdown of napster, to be honest i never used it. audiogalaxy satellite 1 & 2,mirc efnet mp3 trading, dc++ hubs those where the best ways to get your mp3s

 

napster? that's a pretty ancient example !... I remember it tho..
since it used it's own servers to mediate file delivery , it came down pretty much instantly..
one day you get stuff... then suddenly only a few fake or renamed files or non copyright stuff was still available..
then it just disappeared... was fun while it lasted.. then people just switched to kazaa or other flavors of p2p...

and people retreated to yahoo forums, blogs, and ftp to disseminate their RoIO s

with torrents we have had it much better for a long time..

content always reappeared somewhere else..

demonoid loads up, but does not return any search results for me

also good ol' tpb is still floating..

I've been using Demonoid since its creation.....but right now it's really been slow or unresponsive

 

Beside RARBG and Extratorrent i can also wholeheartedly recommend https://torrentproject.se There are many audio torrents there, too, so we don't need to download all the big torrents through Audionews and ruin the ul/dl ratio.
