XXI Century in England... stupidity, racism...



Look at the picture... stupidity, racism or it's only because they are english? I prefer think the one who wrote that sheet was drunk.

You should cross the border to Wales. We're much more sensible and welcoming over here!

 

I am sorry but I don't get it... I am a Greek living in the UK for the past 6 years and I believe it is the least racist country in my honest opinion.

You should try being African/Caribbean, Asian or Eastern European and living in the UK - or indeed many other European countries.
Racism tends to be a little more covert and sophisticated in the UK but it's still rife.

 

I get that you are angry but you don't tell us the full story here. Is it a school for kids? a University? Is the person attending or is it an application? Are you sure it's not just demographics or standard procedure?

When you say "to think if that happened to me, my family or friends" what do you mean? Did something bad happened? Is your family ok?
I am sorry but I don't understand, maybe it is just the language barrier, my English are still not very good.

dont mind that, italians are racists even between them, those from the north mostly because they say in south there's mafia and undeveloped region, so they fight verbaly upon this matter most of the time ...signs of racism are in any developed country because of the social status one has ...lately i saw some vid where italians migrate to Switzerland but they encouter there that they cannot work in high class jobs even if they are qualified for because of a law that enforces this and the citizens of the country must take those jobs first ...but now i say that in this way many people that come to their contry (Italy) for jobs feels the same so dont mind if thei are treated different in other places as at thir home do the same stuff ...shitty world we live in, that is for sure ...if Anonymous is right WWIII is at the doors! so lets finish this quickly, shall we????!!!


...PS: off course, im not supporting any sign of racism here and i would agree with punishment for any aggresion but i tell you from what i saw with my own eyes, these are facts and im so sorry my kid will grow in this world ...as much as i would and i will struggle to teach him the contrary he will face these one day, i just hope he will understand that WE ARE ALL EQUAL !!!

i have many friends from Greece and they hate it when people separate them like that, since they are all Greek. same goes for the Italian people. Same goes for the German who once upon time when there was a wall ,West and East where like two different factions

I believe it is not the words that matter but the way you say them. If someone calls me an immigrant(which technically I am) I will react to the way he says it not the word.

@Batoumba I truly wouldn't mind. On a side note, you can't compare "King Kongs balls with ping pong balls", Greece is a small country. And ask your Greek friends how proud they are for the place they come from.

 

As far as I'm aware, racism or any such topic revolving around it , is frowned upon here and could ultimately get you a ban.

 

If one wants to argue, he (she, it) will find a matter in the smallest things

 

Apart from the insult against the English and the foolishness in failing to recognise the obvious irony by posting it here, there is no racism or stupidity in the opening post.

Ok, I give up. Over the last few hours I read this thread in the hope that any answer would help me understanding what it is about. But nothing I read here helps me (apart from @Aliens post).
So, let me try to get it.

The op accuses of stupidity and racism in England. As proof there's a list. On the list, 4 rows are highlighted. Italy seems to be categorized into sub-sections.

What is the racism part? Where is the stupidity?

I experience that US-citizens often know two countries: Germany and Bavaria. I would never think of "racism"(??). Instead I lmao and that's it. Ok, it might be a little stupid, but really worth a rant?

Erm, no, I still don't get it.

 

As an Italian from Naples (an "ITAN", as the hilarious image describes me above) I find this to be highly racist. The British Embassy apologised this morning, thank god.

Italy is divided into 20 regions, each one being very different from another. According to this sheet, there would be a Roman Italian, a Milanese Italian, a Florence Italian etc. Ok, so.. where are they?

Take a closer look: We are being subdivided into ITALIAN, ITALIAN (ANY OTHER), then NEAPOLITAN and SICILIAN. That means I'm not even ANY OTHER ITALIAN. What am I then? We all know what this lovely piece of paper is implying. Certainly not a geographical distinction.

Things like these, I find them scary. Just for a moment, you wanna think it's a bad troll, but then you think somebody actually conceived that, wrote it down and used it.

(For the record, I love England. I've lived in Manchester for 2 years.)

Isnt that simply them trying to highlight.. the biggest groups that they have in UK. I'm guessing there is a lot of Sicilian and Neopolitan? And any other Italians... go in to group other?

I have good Italian friends and Italians are often quite funny about all the regions and how "different". Definitely big racism and class-ism between North and South... big discussion about which "region" and how people act from the different regions. Southern look darker and also more often viewed negatively or "slow"... surprise surprise. And then complaining about this form in the UK pretty funny
