    u guys dont understand.
i know about porns popups and virus there for long time.
but that virus here was on audioz.download popup when not logged ( i didnt know that now im logged )
and that kind of virus, you dont have to press anywhere, its ALREADY in your computer whatever you do. best antivirus best adblocker etc etc. nothing to stop that. its the ransonware, and the only way to get protected from that is malwarebytes antiransomware. make your lessons guys, do some research on google.
i know acronis for backups, but usually i backup only the C drives, when lots of tera's installed programs as D E F drives. i never thought those drives would be affected and non reversible virus. never seen that in my life, and i repair computers since long time. even if my friend had some backup drives, thoses wasnt installed, and i think he didnt backup his music projets, this is his fault tho.
for calling 911 and the 1-844 number. im not stupid, i want just to bust those guys. to see if we can do something about those craps.

I find most amazing is that Simon Templar is not more involved in this story that annoys all of us. I think he knows exactly why we are so pissed off with this story. This should do it well laugh as I have seen here.

Now when you want to login, a window opens asking us to make a donation. As on Lorem Ipsum bla bal bal

Its called click jacking for a reason. Either a clear overlay that takes up the whole screen, or a one pixel button that tracks the pointer. These are OLD malware/tactics. I just prefer to stop the scripts before the load, instead of having multiple (paid for?) Antiviruses running, LoL And yes you still have to click anywhere to allow it. Permissions and all that. That fake chrome warning you tried to close, and then checked the "prevent this page from opening..." box was a fake, it was actually a button to install a hidden extension. Thats how they get your permission to get in. And once they hijack the browser with fake extensions the door is open. If youve been around for a while you would know this.....

Security Now podcast by Steve Gibson, just google it lol (the author of spinrite) is how I stay up to date on malware tactics not Googling random malware

I clean my browser regularly using ADW and JRT (just recently bought by malwarebytes)
You can find them on bleeping computers site

sounds like a plan... I may go ahead and do this.. but are you saying Linux Mint, for example, is impervious to
malicious code from a browser? I would accept that.. but ignorant of exactly how it works. I see there is Firefox
for Linux, so whatever malicious Windows code would try to launch through that would just terminate when facing
Linux? Or, do you use a different browser within Linux as well ?

I might be mistaken, but I believe you can run firefox in virtualbox. So if it gets hit you just close it.

I thought I might add, Ive been using the free version of AVG and zonealarm since before 2010 and havent been hit yet. Was using comodo free firewall for a minute but they changed it and i want back to zonealarm. Doesnt matter as long as you can block exes (and dlls?) But my browser is bulletproof and the malware never makes it that far. I also run peerblock too.

If youre a peerblock user, to get the latest lists just go into your lists folder and delete everything but your permallow list and it will perform an update and get the new lists. No need to pay for an iblocklist subscription. You can do this as often as you like. In case you didnt know

@subGENRE you mean you are running this on Win? I don't have any problems myself at this time ..
but they eventually find a way to circumvent, and you get the attackware pop ups occasionally
I was considering if Linux just completely ignores this crap..

  13. Because they're young and inexperienced, but then again victim blaming justifies any crime.

I was at my work today when the owners home phone line rang. When I answered it was some Indian guy telling me he was from microsoft and there was a problem with the windows on our computer, even though she doesn't own one.
Now I had this same scam call at my home a few months back, and knowing it was a scam, and as it was a day off, I played along for a bit until I got bored asking for ID, his office phone number, the version code and all sorts of stuff. He really thought I was going to give him remote access to my pc, until I called him out, said I only have a mac, and that I knew he was a filthy sub continent criminal.

Today I was too busy for games, so I just told him to fuck off you shit head Indian scammer and laughed at him until he hung up.

    True story.

I know right, it's just an annoying popup you can just click away with some text that's designed to scare clueless people with no internet experience to get them to call a random number or sometimes even transfer money or bitcoins. Sometimes it has an annoying script that makes it reappear once you closed it but that's nothing that can't be solved by simply killing the browser process in the task manager.
