The problem with Linux is that it sucks. 90% of audio interfaces don't even have drivers, even when they do there's like 4 APIs to choose from and none of them work. And good look looking for plugins.

I never said anywhere to use Linux for audio, but for Internet. Good luck for using it for audio.

Linux doesn't suck at all. It's a way better OS from ground up with way better kernel, security, and way better and safer file systems [like EXT, XFS, ZFS]. What sucks is the developers who develop for Windows only. I'd gladly use it for audio and not have to deal with Microsoft crap any more, but things are as they are. At least currently.

Times are changing and Microsoft is doing everything in its power to make more and more users embrace other platforms. I can only thank them for that. Almost 30 years of Microsoft crap on our PCs is more than enough anyway.

And that, my friends, is what Macs are made for. It's the only Unix that works.

If Apple's proprietary Frankenstein is the only Unix that works than why aren't big majority of servers and smart phones running OS-X? :winker: Surely there must be something you don't know

I have nothing against OS-X, and people using it, but it really doesn't work as good as Windows for audio and Linux is far more tweakable than OS-X, so you can really make it run the fastest and most efficient of the bunch, but since there aren't as many plugins as on Windows... damn it. Really, Windows is the best solution for audio currently. Not 10, though. 10 is just another Frankenstein, but made by Microsoft. This crap they somehow managed to scrap together is so buggy that it will take them 10 years to clean it up, if they ever manage to do it. :hahaha:

Big majority of servers and smart phones isn't running OS X, because it is neither a server, nor a mobile phone operating system. Simple as that. Linux is a Frankenstein after years of trying to make it an usable OS for desktop, and it's a shitton of random packages put together and just hoping it will work. Also, no, Windows isn't the best solution for audio. In the professional world, where you can skip freeware VSTs, Mac Pro is the way to go. Workstation-grade components, ECC memory and tons of performance. A lot of high-end interfaces (RME, UAD) is either FireWire, or Thunderbolt, and both are pretty much dead on PC. And all the plugins that matter are currently Windows & Mac anyway. So... yes, it does work as good as Windows, even better.

  9. Just a stupid question because I know nothing about my computer, your computer or anyones's computer; if I was foolish enough to up it to 10 from the 8.0 I have now, would I have to completely reinstall everything on my computer or is it more a patch thing, and would I be led away in cuffs for the stuff I have residing on my drives such as wares and such. I know, I am ridiculous, but really, I have no idea whatsoever. Have pity on the fool.

It is always preferable to install Windows from scratch, superliquidsunshine. Most bricked Windows happen to people who decided to upgrade their existing Windows installation. Regarding police raiding your place, I'm not sure, either. [half-joking] :hahaha:

Hey guys, microsoft is working on a tech which throws all your info to their servers.

  12. @SineWave .. Thanks for the info. It is one of those love/hate things; I would (when my computer is eventually is mended) hope it to run as powerfully and efficiently as can be. Folks say Win 7 is the greatest thing since woolen socks and then others say how much more efficiently Windows 10 is and how it rocks their world. I am the opposite of tech savvy and rely on the kindness and knowledge of others and try to separate the wheat from the chaff. I am though totally not into being raped by Microsoft in the way of being spied upon. The computer will not be online, but to tell you the truth, I do not know if that even matters any more. If my computer guru feels that part of the cure for my I'll behaving machine would be to do a clean install, I will have to decide eventually which road to walk down.
