If they let you pick those 16 plugs I think people would be willing to do the $10 a month for sure. Also after Xfer/Duda with Splice did the Rent to Own concept it makes these type of subscription based models weak if it's not rent to own.

If I could do rent to own on waves and have access to 16 plugs of my choice at any one time I would actually do this until all the waves stuff I wanted/Use was paid off. It would take years but waves would be getting money and I would be getting the product "I WANT" how I want it not how they want to offer it to me.

 

not of your choice, I fear. 16 plugs of Waves choice. just the essentials, just the crap. you want the good stuff, pay. catch-22 is always present with these things.

 

I hope they don't stop their weekly sales. Sometimes the best of their catalog goes ridiculously cheap.

IMO The Slice business model (Serum) is better. I suppose Waves chosed the rent model because the large amount of stuff they released year by year.

 

Hm, renting plugins and paying them that way (rent-to-own) until you get a full license is the best model of this business but renting in a way that you pay without owning the product somewhen like adobe and now waves does, is pure shit. The only thing which I rent to not own is my current appartment but I'm not willed to pay for something I will never own even if I paid the full retail price after some time.

So Steve Duda did it the best way. If I wouldn't have bought a license some years ago, I would do it now via splice.
