With wonderful sounding samples recorded the "Spitfire Way", North 7 Vintage Keys is a small collection of classic keyboards in a hybrid engine. It's strength of endless variations in timbre by way of the eDNA engine is also it's biggest weakness as the engine is limited to blending only 2 mic positions at time.

Not really offering a lot for 200 pounds,not bad but nothing special,would have to try for a final verdict.

 

I prefer to put $ 200.00 more and bought KEYSCAPE.

On Thursday I flew down to Los Angeles for the unveiling of a NEW SPECTRASONICS product "KEYSCAPE". I actually had no idea what this would be and was as surprised as everybody else when I walked into the lobby of the hotel, up the stairs and into the room where Eric and team had placed all of these AMAZING rare keyboard instruments and I saw the banner saying "Keyscape" on it.

Like many of you, I was very surprised..... I've received a number of email from many of you curious WHY would Spectrasonics bring out a library of ELECTRIC PIANOS?? "Doesn't the world have enough of these??" Some of you have asked....

And the answer is: Only a SMALL part of this library is ELECTRIC PIANOS (and they are truly awesome) but NOBODY HAS EVER CREATED A LIBRARY LIKE THIS. This has RARE, Unique and AMAZING SOUNDING instruments that I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW EXISTED. ALL of them are recorded at an audio quality that would be IMPOSSIBLE for you to get if you rented one of these 36 instruments for your album project. AND there are LOTS of cool variations to every one of these instruments. SO MANY variations that, like Omnisphere, will take DAYS to go thru all of them! They sound amazing and they play really nicely! Seriously, we were talking about this and nobody has ever put together a collection of this many rare collectable keyboards and recorded them anywhere close to this level of OMG-ness.....

They also show up in Omnisphere 2 - so a future library using this 79GB of source is DEFINITELY going to happen - just not until next year. ALSO - Because it shows up in Omnisphere 2, Layering these sounds with ANY of my 17 LIBRARIES (I can't believe I have 17 libraries for Omnisphere!) will create infinite keyboard pads and many many other interesting sounds!

So - is it cool and do you need to spend $399 for it? Absolutely if you want incredible keyboard instruments (Grand Piano, E. Pianos, Whirlies, and a ton of keyboards you've never heard of).

MY SUMMARY: KEYSCAPE: The coolest Library you will WANT that you didn't know you would WANT! Save your pennies my friends. Adding this to Omnisphere 2 is a no-brainer.

WOW!!! Sounds like sh@t!!! BTW, I predict Keyscape is going to be a joke due to its bloated number of instruments & lack of sampling depth.

 

I always love me some new Wurli, Rhodes, Clav, and other vintage junk, but 200 pounds price is just not realistic.

I wonder how much it will be for a new Scarbee 88-key Rhodes made in collaboration with George Duke (when George was still alive). This just has to be the ultimate Rhodes library. It will definitely have some big cojones...

 

Get a real Fender Rhodes and you can die happy.
