i know protools on !PC! (and DONT like it) for me is the best daw definitely: samplitude pro! (btw. most magazines at the past compare only "samplitude" on the pc with the king on mac "protools") i work with this daw since 1999 (at this time it was "sekd" and now it's magix, but dont get worry, samplitude has nothing to do with the newbie sequencer "magix music studio") and nothing else i could still convince more. It looks spectacular but if you will be working more with this daw, you appreciate all the great and deep hidden features that brings you very fast to your finished project. this daw never leaves me (crashes) it works 100% round and tight and yes, it's also aviable as 64bit win7!
... and of course, everything is a matter of taste, but Samplitude comes in things audiosequencer (the midi features are also great at this time) very close to protools!

by the way, here you found another thread called "Any 64bit DAW cracked for PC?" that maybe helps you:

I prefer Reaper. If you use the Groove 3 tutorials you will be a Pro on this tool in no time!

There are so many good reasons to use Reaper that I can not begin to list them here.

Give it a try, if you need more info, check out the Reaper web site or PM me.

    http://www.cockos.com/reaper/index.php

Have fun and Try Reaper to quit worrying about the inadequacies of your DAW.

Free to try and run forever, or buy for $60. 64 bit throughout.

So what is different in Pro Tools on a Pc compare to Pro Tools on a Mac?

King of DAW:s in Mac land must be Logic atleast i.m.o

Since you can have Pro Tools for both Win and Mac
And that goes for HD version also

I know a friend who have Pro Tools HD 3 running on a Win 7 PC

if your protools is not 64 bit it's less likely to work a ok. why don't you just use 32 bit?

    Without a doubt Reaper!!!

Why you ask? I WANT AN OPEN DAW, I want to make my own extensions, my own plugs, my own OSC interfaces!!!! and above all I WANT IT TO LOOK THE WAY I WANT!! no other daw allows this .

I hate being shoehorned into the regular interface of Daws.

And now with Pure Data and OSC Reaper has VCA groups as well now I am very happy that now I have even better VCA groups than Protools.

I love reaper, I have been waiting for a daw like this for years, OPEN not fuckin closed .

That is why every damn day there is someone making something new to reaper with user made plugins and extensions, it's a parade of new and cool stuff every day at the reaper forums. No other Daw has this going for them. I also use Samplitude 12. However right now Reaper is my GOTO live Daw.

THE REAPER is coming for you !!!! are you ready?

Dan's opinion is the one I would go with. Reaper seems to be the most versatile, flexible, and powerful right now. My friend, burninstar, is very experienced and knowledgeable about these things, and he keeps pushing me to switch. He runs Windows7 64bit and never has any problems. I would switch, but have just been to lazy to learn new tricks. Maybe when I stat a new project from scratch.

I am a huge fan of samplitude prox as well! it is the ONLY daw software that will let you do everything you want. you can track, mix, and master (and burn cds if you need to) all in this same daw! it is many mastering engineers "secret weapon" (including me!) and there is both a x86 and x64 versions that work fine on win 7 64 bit. Sound on Sound is reviewing Samlitude Pro X quite favorably in their current issue (04/2012). The review is promoted on the cover as "MAGIX SAMPLITUDE PRO X The best DAW you've never used!"

    "PROS:
    - The most heavily featured Windows DAW there is.
    - All Samplitude Pro features are now included in the much cheaper Pro X.
    - Now dongle-free.
    - The unique approach to working with Objects sets Samplitude apart from other programs.
    - Excellent bundled plug-in library.
    - Neat options for handling multitimbral instruments in the Mixer.
    - Now comes with a fully fledged software sampler and 12GB of very good-sounding content.
    - Spectral editing at a track level is surprisingly useful, and unique to Samplitude
    - OMF and AAF compatibility might help if you need to transfer projects to and from other software.

    CONS:
    - The sheer number of features, combined with an interface that's heavy on windows, menus and dialogues, make getting to grips with Samplitude a challenge for new users.
    - The factory library for the Independence sampler completely omits a lot of oft-used instruments
    - Different handling of built-in and third-party plug-ins can be confusing, as are inconsistencies within the bundled plug-in library
    - Successful project transfer by OMF and AAF is, at present, a bit of a lottery. (this issue has been resolved with the most recent update)

    SUMMARY:
With Pro X, Magix are seeking to attract new users to a long-established program.
Some user interface changes and new features will help in this respect, but ultimately,
it's the immense power of Samplitude that remains its most attractive quality."

So, i think that is the one you should go with!
    dude

    @ Orsoit,

Well, I can understand that you need and/or want some advices and/or conclusions from another DAWs users. It's always interesting to have different points of view. *yes*
But in some sense, you answer yourself to your own question :
After your own conclusions, ProTools 'sounds' better than Samplitude... so I can suppose that you have make your choice between them !
Why you don't do the same test - "I try to make a mix... " - with Sonar this time, and with all the others DAWs that could interest you ?
Once all your tests are done, you get your own conclusions that will certainly be the more advisable, because is YOU (and only YOU !) that will use which DAW is the more suitable for your needs or desires.
    Just a thought...

Sorry for my enghish, I just wanted to share my experience with these software.
remains the standard in professional protools, logic, and audio and nuendo but few studio recording use it

has anyone recorded and mixed with reaper or something in Samplitude or Sonar to be able to hear how other people use this software?

post the link of your song if you like.
