Tis ok. Piano (ie instrument) is a bit wanky (kinda Microsoft GM vibe =) I like the beat & <3 teh bass, i approve of ur snare sound etcs. I dislike the quick gliss spurts when u do ur solo piano, sounds liek ur trying 2 play geetar slide piano =( It seems 2 lack a bit of content, kept expecting some melody / vocals or whatevs.

Sounds good, the slide piano is fine by me, it is a interesting idea.

The issue is not what other people like in something like this, do you like it enough to call it your own. Music is something you have to create an audience for, people need to get you I understand that part, you want people to like it, but for that to happen you have to make something you really like yourself and you like it enough to say.... this is mine I like it and I hope you do too, and if you don't the top 40 radio station is playing in your car so GTFO.

Creating an album is a major endeavour that puts even the most seasoned artist/producer in the hot seat. If you need advice on a 2 minute snippet them maybe it's not the time for an album right now. Predominant questions when producing an album should circle around topics like dramatic arc, building tension, telling a story. Finish a song first, then finish the next, and if you've done this
40-50 times and can finish a song without getting stuck, then you can move on and make an album.
    Damn straight!

I think what fraifikmuchi is trying to explain is that there should be some sort of cohesion in either track style/production/ideas for each track so the album is an embodiment of those ideas put into a collection. And it is a huge undertaking for an album, trust me been there done that. What would be better imo is singles/EPs until you are comfortable with how to portray your ideas. The problem right now is you might have all these ideas but the method of converting those ideas into producible artifacts might not be 100% there yet.

Sure, but i mma a talk about myself, when I do listen to a new album all I care about is 'picking the best songs' so i could listen to them again and again
then(later on) i put the whole album on queue (if i have time)
what i'm trying to say is ppl don't respect your album order, they listen to what they like then they move on, they treat your album as a bunch of song singles ( next, next, next emm i like that, next, next)

In that case i would say not all people consume music in the same way, be aware of that. For example have you heard Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly? That album doesnt have much context with each singular track, even those the tracks are awesome. Each track on the album when listened in order tell a story. Obviously not all albums are like that but its an example of something i find more cohesive in structure. A lot of people also do what you mention too (making a bunch of tracks, then picking a selection for the album), but then i find the problem, why aren't all the tracks on the album your favourites when you pick those songs? Not even 50%? I would find the quality of the album to be quite poor if i only liked 1-2 of the songs on lets say a 10 track album. Also your sound design might improve over the course of this project. Would anything signify that in this album? Obviously ive not heard the other tracks so i cant comment on that, but you would want the level of production quality/song writing to be consistent.

It's not pushing the bar, it's just non cohesive. The problem is nobody calls that kind of collection an LP(Long Play) anymore. These things used to have meaning and were used to categorize released material, now everyone wants to say Album (a collection of themed songs) because they've heard that an Album was the hardest to do, it was more prestigious to release an Album, rather than EP (Extended Play) which is longer than a single, shorter than a Themed Album but not as long as LP.

Somewhere along the way they all got jumbled up.

Think of the Album as operatic, you could have a very modern non-cohesive and very eclectic collection, and it was probably those avant-garde guys that confused the terminology up, though in hindsight even the most messed up most eclectic guys like Bowie had a theme it was just very hard to figure out sometimes.

In some cases the theme is not apparent, but the terminology is worth keeping around, even if it is archaic at times, and even if some people whose business it is to know it, do not know it or ignore it for marketing reasons. If I had a restaurant and advertised it as Chinese 6 course sit down diner, you might be upset to get served 1) Egg Roll 2) Hamburger 3)Kielbasa Sausage 4) Falafel 5) Canned Sardines 6) Chocolate Ice Cream.

I like the track musically so far, The piano sound is kinda thin and whimpy though.

It is carrying most of the chords in the song, I would beef it up some that will enhance your melody when you listen to it, there seems to be a lot of noise at the end, could it be soundcloud?

EDIT: I listened again and it seems noisy through the entirety of the track. Really noticeable during low dynamics. It's not soundcloud.

Keep plugging away. It's getting there.

I will never understand why you need to have opinions, and especially here.
It's a lack of confidence. If you do not believe in yourself, then Abandon All Art Now!

  17. I believe that you believe in yourself enough to exhibit your work to a bunch of strangers, facing up to criticism, eye to eye with the naysayers with still the resolve and trust in yourself to move forward. That tells me that you are in your power and will complete your album at all costs. It seems to me that you realize that it is okay to make mistakes, learn from them and to use the happy ones creatively, perhaps to do things, go into tangential directions that you might have not thought to do before. You are going to learn much along your journey, make new and long term friends, be like a magnet to like-minded kindred spirits, and because you believe in yourself, will grow as an artist and always will until the day you die.
