    The question is.
Has anyone tried it,does anyone use it in his production rig?
    Broadwell-E.10 cores,20 threads,140W TDP,supports max 128GB DDR4 Ram.Operating Frequency
    Operating frequency;3,0GHz,Turbo;3,5GHz.
The price is a bit much buth then again Pentium delivers.
Im also migrating away from AMD to Pentium, will still use AMD for farming pc`s.
Right now the i7-6700K at 300$ still seems like the best version to go price/performance wise for home producers on a budget.

If you want a lot of bang for the buck you can try to find out what serial versions correspond to what test phase of a chip. You can find SE/QS cpus that are equal to the final version for a fraction of the price.. I've been thinking about this for some time now, getting myself a 32 core system or so. Will still cost you 3000 or so, but hey ;)

Never have the money "extra" though ;)

Another side note, I'm quite interested in the AMD Zen. I'm wondering what the price point will be..

I have mixed feelings for ZEN,on one side i think they can deliver though what worries me is that Pentium is so much ahead of the game at the moment. We shall see.
    The competition is much needed.

10 Cores / 20 Threads... :wtf: 1600$ / 10 = 160$... Wait, wait and buy the 6700(K is for games and overclock only...)

My new production pc is i7 6700 based (Z170 Gigabyte mobo + 32GB RAM) and is fast... faster... fastest than my previous pc.

    Those prices are rather low.
Either they aim to sell a shit loads of them or its just speculations like you`ve said.
    8 core 16 threads,more likely a price between 250-300 euros.

Also a 40% increase.idk but that would still mean a lot less power than the top of the line pentium cpu`s.

Well the i7-6950x is a true beast, almost double power compared to the more famous i7-4790k and i7-6700k.

If you have money go for it. Only Xeon CPU are supposed to have more power i7.jpg i72.jpg

32 core server type for 400 pounds is super cheap if that corresponds to a 32 core xeon.. We shall see, but I will certainly buy it for that price if performance is as good as they say.

Edit: I almost think you mean 16 core 32 thread.. but still..

I would like to see how those xeons handle a daw.

its AMD it wont handle like anything from intel.
i mean i bought a 8 core cpu for 160€ in 2013, i never really outsourced the power, well the heating sensory was kind of bugged and well, AMD has a weird way to respond to heat, but for that price i was satisfied over the years. (ok now i type this from a intel powered netbook :D )

but to be honest 1600 bucks for a cpu - really? if we only could get a mobo with 2 cpu slots, we could use 2 of these 339$ intel cpus and use them together we woud be cheaper as this cpu, but once again they did it that way ...

dont think AMD will deliver with their ZEN cpus, they never did really ... in the past.

it depends how got one of these cores is ... i mean intel always had these 2 logical core scheme, while AMD loved the physical core scheme.
the attack on hyperthreading from AMD never worked well, at least it had not convinced me.

lets see when the ZENs are being delivered and the first tests are coming.

    I agree.
AMD,for gamers will still be a smart choice, hell even for music production is quite alright but when you need more power you need more power and you can only squeeze so much out of an AMD and this comes from a die hard AMD fan.
Pentium just delivers a lot more power.

I have an intel i7 2600K , i think it wont get down to its knees even if i had hundred tracks with vsti's
so the current equal cpu must be really ok !

    I have a I7 980x (windows server) + a new 5820K.... 6700 is one generation after but a worst overclock.
with overclock old 980x is almost the same with 5820k. Old 980x is very robust... cannot say the same with new cpus and motherboards...
