Not sure if this is the right place to post.

So the new serum update only was released on the sister site(1.113) , but now my serum ask for a serial after certain amount of time.

I've tried to uninstall it and reinstall it. I installed this update and used a keygen from a previous release and the presets from the 1.0.0 demo from Xfer's site. But this didn't do the trick so I don't know what to do. Other people on the post reported that it was working fine. Other said that you should clean the registry, but I never found out what keys to delete. Do I need another installer that is not demo with the presets?

What should I do?

PS: Money is tight. Can't buy.

 

I know you said money is tight, but right now, you can rent-to-own Serum for $10 a month via Splice. I'm doing that now, but I don't like how harsh Serum is. You can cancel as well.

 

Serum used to do that before the update here. My solution was to keep the KG on my desktop, so I didn't have to dig every time it phoned home. I even tried blocking the .dll with my firewall. Didnt try to sniff out the ip though to block it in the hosts file.

It doesn't actually phone home though. You will get the timebomb even on PCs that have never been connected to the internet. What happens is that additional key checks have been added within later updates, so the key will still be accepted at first but will fail some of the later added checks. When it does, it will direct you to the Xfer Records site and ask you to buy the plug-in. Usually the extra checks and re-direction happens whenever you recall presets, at least it did in the previous updates.

The way I see it you have 2 to 3 options depending on how you can mix and match them to whatever works for you. The first one is to simply buy Serum, be it either straight up or through the Splice rent-to-own program they recently started. The other option is to stay with the latest officially released version from either R4E (v1.0.7b3) or R2R (v1.0.6b7) and be happy with the features you get from those versions. There may be newer versions cracked and available online but I am unaware of any. The original installers that are usually being uploaded to the sister site nowadays will not work and are probably only being uploaded so people can some extra cash through the downloads from UL and Rapidgator. If these options do not satisfy you, you will have to wait for somebody to crack the latest version and upload it somewhere (most likely the sister site) or for R2R to upload a newer keygen which can satisfy the more recently added serial checks.

Now, I'm really not too sure why, but it seems neither R2R nor other more independent crackers are actively cracking and/or creating keygens (and sharing the fruits of their labor) for the more recent Serum versions. So you may have to wait for a very long time until you can get a newer version either cracked or successfully keygened. That probably leaves you with the earlier mentioned options as your only valid ones. I actually bought the synth since it's well worth it (had to save up some serious money to do so though) but I can also definitely understand money being very tight for plenty of people. I'm still a student (about to graduate though) and I have a hard time affording the plug-ins that I actively use in my productions. I hope somebody will come along and crack/keygen some newer version so the poor (and the few that can but are absolutely unwilling to support like Kanye ) among us too can try all the different features the newer versions have added. But only time will tell if and when this may happen. Until then I suggest you go with either of my previously mentioned options.

Always remember that beggars can't be choosers and this case isn't any different. I've been on the same end of the stick plenty of times and while it's certainly nice to have access to all the latest features of whatever plug-in, I was (and still am) always grateful for the stuff I do get to use without having to pay for it. Not that I don't want to but most of the times that means me not being able to afford food and/or rent at the moment. And plug-ins simply aren't worth it with whatever is available to you online. Best way is splice. There is no fix. The update is not even patched.

I' not a 200$ fan of serum - IMO, too much for what it is. But as mentioned beggars can't be choosers and I can understand that for some producers (or better, kind of music) it could mean the ultimate synth. I would probably fire it up a couple of times a month to slowly learn what I can do /w it. So even the "subscription" is a no-go for me.

Just another thing. There were no hit bangers made with this version (yet). Everything to what you listen (and admire) was made with god-knows-which one.. (true for any SW). So think twice; maybe you "need" it just because you can't have it.

 

I don't have any issues with it. I blocked xferrecords.com in hosts,and I got exceptions / blocking for all DAWs, so maybe that's got smthn 2 do with it. I don't exact use it a lot, so maybe I update from "right" version? Maybe it'll bomb 2moz? Works fine atm, loading / saving presets, fiddling wi knobs et al. I went back and tried vst3, works same as using internal presets. Anyway, it's just been fixed... It's an ok synth, bit overrated imo. But pretty!

A fix is on the way but time is the issue which leads into waiting a bit more.
It will be included in my next "complete" release.

Yes but try to save a patch of your own and then try to loadit,if alls fine your one of the lucky ones.....mines a damn nightmare

 

What worked for me (LPX 10.2.2, Mavericks) was to go back to version 1 with keygen, Installed with created vs pre-made reg#
Updated to 1.068=all working fine. Updated with most current version - asked for reg# when opening,; used same reg#
All working. Latest Cymatics goodies all working! LPX fire walled, computer oflline when I make music
YMMV

are we at a place where 10 bucks a month is too much for a great plug in that you'll own after you pay it off ? i'm not trying to be bring anyone down here just saying the time you spend trying to make it work for free is taking you father away from your musical goals no ? i also feel like steve duda puts in a lot of effort to this plug in to update and add features now going on two years . at some point we have to support some of the good devs or there will be nothing new worth a fuck to use. i would of loved the chance to pay 10 bucks a month it was a tight purchase for me too but i bought it.

Im starting to think this renting ideas really quite a god send for those of us ridiculously strapped for cash as many of us are .....I;; definaltey be debating that without question!!!!!!
This fix i tried over 15 times to apply and get sorted but of course not no such luck

Well Pirat evidently put out a fix for the time bomb (on the sister site), but I would encourage you to still do the rental thing if you can. Steve Duda really deserves everyone's support for continually adding features to what is already the world's most complete synth, and for his superb tech support.

Ever seen his tutorials for serum, seems like a genuine and humble guy. A lot of other producers praise him as well.
I guess I feel more comfortable paying him, instead of something like throwing money at a waves/ilok2 plug.

 

Oh come on.. this is getting a bit cheesy, ladies. Now on the serious note:
I know some of you will hate me for this; but it is just like yours - an opinion. And a word of caution..

Like I wrote in my previous post, I'm not a big fan of Serum, I might be wrong but there are others that invested more time analyzing the sw and many of them say that the synth is overrated. It is expensive, especially for something that needs constant bugfixing (went to xfer page, lots of complaints from legit users AND a fast remedy from this fantastic guy Duda). He really seems(!) like a nice guy. I mean, just look at him - you don't need no further proof. Is he really so "genuine and humble"? Putting a price tag of 190$ on something that is not even bulletproof stable doesn't scream humble to me. Most complete synth? I've read this being Sylenth, Diva, Zebra, Spire.. and the list goes on.

But here it comes: now you can have it for 10$/mo (BTW, exactly the sub to Photoshop+Lightroom; not the same thing - you never own it - but also not the same amount of coding, or?). Well it's exactly here where I see the "danger". Every pro Adobe user would rather see a non-subscription plan. Buy, own, disconnect! But I think that is not possible anymore.. For now, you can buy (own) Serum (and I would advise you to do it this way). There are other services involved in this scheme and they are certainly not doing it for free. You were calling for help because of win10 and where the world is going (subscription based all-time online worldwide colonoscopy). But you are not even a little bit suspicious about this? AFAIK, he could be anything from Good Samaritan to Xfer-Cymatics-Splice mafia. We can only speculate.

Yes, go on, do the right thing. But don't expect that after countless hours producing maybe even better music than those top chart hits, somebody will come and say that you REALLY deserve everyone's support. Those five producers will not let you join the club.

I don't dislike posts just because I don't agree with others opinion. I expect the same from others but please, do whatever you like. Maybe I am a bit paranoid but I don't like how the world goes around these days. Remember: if it's too good to be true it probably is and ..be careful what you wish for.

Okay so something really strange is happening. I'm on 1.113 on Mac 10.10.5. When initially I open serum and choose a patch it opens up their website and usually on previous releases it would time bomb and ask for serial every time but now it opens up the website but doesn't time bomb or ask for serial. Sweet!! My question is now that there is a glitch to my benefit, how do I block the website from popping open? I have handsoff but don't know what to block. Thanks in advance all.

FYI: I understand there is no fix for the time bomb at this time however I was gifted a wonderful gift of a glitch somehow that doesn't render serum useless.
