Great idea. There are plenty of free sites that offer free flash chat, although it's not supported for Ipad Iphone etc. So you may consider a java app for the chatroom, so that everyone can have access to it anytime they want.

 

chat is good. very good for creating a cohesive board community.

the only thing better than chat...

is integrated chat.

that is to say, chat that is actually part of the bulletin board rather than a separate entity.

I'm not very familiar with invision board mods, modules or tools... but I note there are several 'chat' addons available.

Some of which, if my memory serves me correctly, allow admins to integrate various forms of chat with the IP.board.

It's no big deal to integrate this...it requires just a few simple scripts...I've been a webdesigner for 10 years and I know that creating a chatroom isn't the problem..the security however requires some work. I'm willing to help if you need me.

many members = why not a chat, yep-good idea! maybe a chan (with a sexy bot) on irc (embedded here), so users be able to interact together more with\by using e.g. "chat-commands\triggers" like !request !musicquiz etc. but however, a irc-chat, normal chat, i should learn fast english between the time (if it comes)

 

Why new window/popup? Why not iFrame?

 

I'm guessing but a new window means it's can be hosted somewhere else so not useing up the limited space here.

If your really wanting a chat box in a form that eats up the forums web space, donate money to buy more space or donate the space you get with your broadband it might be some use?


I use my broadband webspace for advertisement of my DISCO so I got no webspace to give.

 

Yeah, no reason to host it on your own server, it will cost to many data. There are plenty of free alternatives, some of them let you embed the chatroom on your site directly.

 

If you know of these places post a address.
