Today I woke up and something was strange. I knew I had to do something.

I 'm currently turning to the dark side. 55% complete of Win 10 install on a dual boot network box.

I have to do it because of my coding business. But I feel a little bit strange now.

I think Trump would be a great president, gay people are ill and migrants are a threat in general.

I will change my live now...good bye, may I never come back. Piracy is sin, I can feel it now.

I am scared to upgrade because I don't want to lose my bootsetting. I have a Hackintosh wit OSX and Win 8.1 and I am using Clover for booting. I think upgrading would overwrite the bootsektor.

 

Yes at first I did it with a Hackintosh...and I had to learn. WIn 10 don't like 3rd party bootloaders while upgrading from a earlier Win partition (some say it only needs drive letters...not tested).

So you first have to install Windows and upgrade it on a single partition, then you can reimplement the hackintosh-stuff.

This way you can end up with a full blown Win 10 + OSX system ready to rock the corresponding app stores.

I suggest hardening that beast is a must. And I only use it for developments!

Anyway, there is no guaranty of privacy for such systems anymore (as described in my older threads about Win 10).

Be aware of the unknown unknowns...and the unknown knowns.

Changing to Windows 10 as an operating system has been advised by so many in my orbit as a great system and that my worries of spying can be smoothed over by a simple change of permissions. It just doesn't feel right, kind of like looking for a job in the public relations department of Monsanto writing copy for their print ads and general brainwashing machine machine . Yea, the money is great, pick your own hours, bla bla bla....but it is a one way ticket to the burning flames of a personal hell, in perpetude, dude. Maybe I'm crazy, maybe I'm not...oh shit, my inner voice is changing...to James Earl Jones's... and it's telling me to just go for it...NO......... no, NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

 

Windows10 does not have a key number but is permanently tied to your motherboard. Therefore:

Have a spare drive lying around? Use it to clone your current drive (or just clone your current operating system). I use Backerupper full and its free. Put the cloned drive in your computer and take the upgrade. Once finished that computer will be Microsoft' Win 10 verified till the day the motherboard dies. Then replace the clone drive with the original and your back in business with your preferred OS. You can then wipe that spare drive and use it to clone another computer you have to reserve it for an eventual upgrade.

 

@Jasmine Thanks for the explanations. I am currently working on my Album on Mac so I defo won't uograde now. But I heard good things about it too.

 

I also tested the new MS Office.

You have to be online, to use office backgrounds (even with the standalone versions).

It's so nice how they encourage us to be online while doing private stuff. These people are so innovative.

I would suggest that you put OS X and Windows on different Harddrives. This makes thinks like this much easier and predictable.

I Just read a news story about MS Not allowing you to turn off their assistant Cortana which does not allow you to use google search while it is running. It will come in a update very soon, Does anybody know this to be true ????? I wonder. They have had this date in mind for a long time now, Think the storm is just starting now?

and download the Media Creation Tool...With this tool you can download and create a bootable USB medium or ISO of Windows 10 for installing later. And although today is already the 30th it still works. I just tried it.

 

Windows 7 was and is the best in my opinion. I started from 98' up. It's got the functionality of XP and the looks of VISTA and has been the most stable compared to all past. I haven't even tried win10 since it's just one big spyware operating system. Not comfortable using it.

 

My prediction is that this MS OS will be their last, least popular, and the death of MS.

I know what you're going to say about 90% of the people using Windows, but I tell you... MS is wrong in thinking all of the 90% will use W10. I'd say 50-60% at best, in a couple of years. Everybody else will slowly start using alternatives during these couple of years. Mark my words. MS started shooting their feet with the release of W8, and all they've done since then is nothing to stop shooting their feet. Their feet look like Swiss cheese now. People are generally fed up with MS and looking for alternatives while using XP/W7/W8, no matter what you think.

Privacy to the side. I know it's the major issue here.

I'm coming from the multimedia bizz, handling transitions, easings and so on since decades.

It seems to me, people hypeing this OS never saw transitions etc. before- and think that's super modern.
Even that default flat-design, which does not fits in every situation is rubbish. Not made by responsive, cool designers.
Only design-idiots don't see this after 5 minutes.

Beginning with Win 3.1, Windows 10 is the worst Win-OS I have ever seen so far. But wait...

Everyone should have it. It's better for our societies. Yes it's good for good people. And yes, It's bad for bad people.

Lets pray for Microsoft. We want a better world, together with Microsoft. Yes there are some tears of joy, while I'm writing this.
