Hi to all the Audiosex family, I NEED HELP PLZ, my prob - I had a hdd failure recently, probably 400 developed ideas and maybe 100 near finished tracks sent to the heavens.. I felt like actually crying, 6+ years of late nights long sessions and countless days of learning amount to nothing... the only ray of hope i had was that i'd save my project files on a portable usb, now for my question, does anyone know of anyway to find the samples i had in my projects,

if it means too much for you and you feel it is worth the moeny, you can send it to pros and they will retrieve it for you, not that cheap tho!

Or you can write it off as an apprenticeship, and start over again from scratch as the professional you now are. That time you spent learning has not gone to waste

:(:(:(:(:(:sad::sad::sad::sad: I feel your pain at a super personal level. This happened to me once. I'm deeply sorry, my friend. I recommend taking it to a professional just to get a quote as to how much it will cost. If it's worth it, do it. I personally would've paid just about any cost just to get all the data I lost to my HDD crash, back into my possession. It may be different for you, but I doubt it because I can tell you feel the same way I felt.

hi if you open any project files flp with a hex edditer ultraedit ect you can see the name of the
samples like this in them, but will take alot of time.

    ÄLD:\Thomas Penton - Essential Drums & Percussion Vol. 1\KICKDRUMS\KICK17.wav

you just have to put wav in the search box and go true the list then copy / paste to txt
or you can open any projects in fl studio and the name of the samples it is looking for will show up
in its search box, all midi and plugin data will be saved in the flp so thats safe,
ive lost years of work as well and learned alot by it.

Back up everything on a other hard drive or two.
Save all projects as zip so everything is in one pack as a backup.
    Experience is priceless.

i had the same issue 5 years ago , although i backup on dvd often , this time my almost new hd had a major failure and i hadnt backuped a bunch of cubase projects. The solution for me was to download ontrack recovery pro (Ontrack.EasyRecovery.Enterprise.v11.0.2.0) and then removed the hard disk from the tower and put it in an external box like this one HDD Enclosure AC-Ryan (usb2 & e-sata) ALUBOX and after that i started saving all the files i could

i came out of this with a couple of non playable moviez but i managed to save all my projects. Definitely turned out cheaper that turning to a pro recovery store with no risk at all at harming the hdd more than it was. and after that i have done crazy things with that alubox , its a real life saver, got a couple of 3-5 tb toshiba and hgst hitachi hdds (two of the best brands i think) and i backuped all my stuff x3 using it

good luck in saving your projects man

Priceless as in incalculable, :( Thx for this info i'm definitely gonna try this out. the only thing about FL searching for the samps is that if you have obscure file names like 01 violin, 02 violin and so on, its virtually impossible to know what sample pack or even your own loop kits they come from. that said thx again mate

I'm sorry for you. You should make a Backup regularly of your sound libraries and other on another hard drive, and still make a second backup of your files .flp.

On the other hand, is that all your projects Successful few productions? Or was this a hobby for you. I suspect that you are addicted to music composition, but many more unhappy things may arrive in life. Think about it.

So you'll have to turn back to zero. This story may not be so tragic that after all. You have evolved over the years and those sleepless nights. Remember your last compositions and try to find these sound banks. New stuff happen every day on AudioZ. You will find enough courage and musical inspiration to be continued.

We are all heart with you. Give us your news and progress of reconstruction.

    Yours,

Too late now, but FL has an option to save your project as a ZIP which culls all the used samples from your library and puts them into one package with the FLP. Then if the path changes (external HDD changes drive letters, etc.) or your sample drive dies, you've got everything all right there without any guess work.

    Highly suggested.

Not gonna lie though. At first I literally thought the title implied "Any Florida veterans" meaning anyone from florida who's been in the military. #AmericanLife #StatesProblems #LandOfTheUnintelligent

I wasn't bashing veterans. I come from a vastly military family, with cousins in the air force, police force, a dad who fought in vietnam, an uncle who fought in korean war, a grandfather who fought in WWII, my other grandfather who was in the Navy, and my 17 year old niece wants to be part of the air force. I wasn't bashing america either. I was making fun of myself, mostly. You have to admit, it was a pretty stupid error on my part.
