  1. Hello all my Sisters and Brothers out there in A Sexland. I have a questiom or two about this new amp that I am lucky to have.

I had no guitar amp for a good long while as I have not been playing out (for probably about 14 years) and sold my old Mesa Mark IV when I left Californ I A. I have been using various little stinky noise boxes that I would borrow for a time here and there from friends, or use software plugs which never ever do it for me. I however was pondering a fine fine little 5 watt Swart amp, but couldn't find a logical reason to spend a thousand or so bucks to have fun in the privacy of my room, even though it sounds like heaven might if heaven were a 5 watt guitar amp. I made a great mistake and pressed the wrong button and was the winning bid of this Vox AC15c1 that sits now in my house. It cost me 120, fuck yea!!! It is in perfect condition less a few cosmetic blemishes, but for what I paid for it....

Anyway, it sounds really good with both the single coils of my Levinson Blade RH4 and with the humbuckers of the Westone Thunder III, which is amother relic from the late 70's. The two or so questions I ask you all is this...1● The reverb in this box sucks so very badly that if I were the people from Korg/Vox who decided to put this crappy excuse of an effect inside an otherwise very good amplifier I would avert my eyes if they were to meet me face to face. Do you know of a replacement that sounds stellar, or of a stomp box that delivers the goods in spades? I haven't a clue about this stuff as I gave been too long out of this ampy loop. And 2● Is there a fine A/B/Y pedal that I could buy that would enable me to choose the Normal Channel, the Top Boost Channel, or both at the same time?

What little time I have played with amp so far has been fun. The Normal Ch. is very cool and easy to dial in a sound I like easily for any occasion. The Boost I will need to work on. The Master Volume knob will enable me to play at a quiet level to record late at night or anytime really without waking the baby next door. Nice. And if I ever again play shows and the drummer doesn't hit the skins like Bonham, then the 15 watts should have me pretty well covered. The next question I need to answer to myself is, without an effects loop, how well does this amp.take to pedals? All that and more when I return home from Lake Neuchatel.

Ironically, I have a Korg AX1000G that has fantastic reverbs. Your Vox amp must have a lame spring reverb or something, cause their digital reverbs are nice (to me at least.)

  4. It really is bad to me. It is way to long, not at all musical and is really pretty harsh to my ears. I can live with the few other shortcomings and plan to swap out the V1 12AX7 which will go a long way to easing any of the sizzle of the high end that peeks out from the abundent niceness beneath it. I do really like the amp and I want to put the money and effort into it to where I can say that I love it.

Keeley Aurora? worth a look @superliquidsunshine .. for sure.. I got one this summer...
very nice..and a lot of settings to play with.. can be had for $100 used

Then if you want something wompus... I guess I'd go for Strymon Big Sky... but then that runs $479 beans...

the Blue Sky is around half that price... but I want BIG.. :winker:

awesome deal on the amp.. I'm trying to channel some luck on a decent tube amp as well,
best price I could find on an AC15 was about $400... good on yer.

  6. I checked out the Strymon, and though it sounds crazy good it seems as if it would work better in a stereo configuration or even as for a send. The Keeley looks good, but what captured my ear is this Catalinebread Topanga Reverb.

The A/B/Y cable is still an unknown entity but this looks very promising.http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BigShotABYv2
