    Don't have a go too :)

If I want to really tweak a reverb I'll load Waves H-Reverb Though. Toraverb is under appreciated, it's not for everyone I guess.

Altiverb is the king of reverbs, heavy on the cpu but for a reason,it makes a good production superb.
Blackhole or Valhalla would be my 2nd choice, followed by Breverb 2.

Valhalla plugins (algo) and SIR2 (convo).
Edit: I also use Ariesverb 0.4b (freeware algo) for those special sound design things. It's fun to modulate and has some interesting detuning algorithms.

  8. @Cav Emp .. $700 or $900 or whatever for a reverb is obscene!

I totally agree with you if it was a software synth, but if you could find a used Lexicon PCM90 for 7 bills (seen them aplenty) you would be in absolute reverb heaven and surely style me out with a beer on the house the next I was in The City Of Brotherly Love. Your smile would actually be wider than the width of your face, which is really impossible, but it would happen anyway.

For all the love Valhalla gets, There's something about them I just don't love.

I mean it could also be the elusive user error - i.e. I just suck - But when I used Valhalla I just found myself having to EQ out a lot more frequencies than when I use Sparkverb.

Who knows... I haven't used them in a while. My opinion could change

I guess it one of those reverbs when you need something special, though its very, very versatile.

    Not really.
I have analyzed what makes or breaks a production and it all comes down to reverbs.
Compared to other companies it just sounds more present, with more depth, real, natural, high end compared to other reverbs. Its the icing on the cake, when you have mastered EQing, compression, automation.
Its the last thing most people spend time on it and there is a reason, its one of the hardest things to master,to deal with in the production.

I think its worth the money, pros in the post production studios cant stop praising it.

Man I agree with this so much.

I really avoided working on my reverb chops for a long time. Even now it's very difficult to know for sure if what I'm doing is an asset to the overall picture (particularly as applies to predelay and diffusion). I kind of just intuit my way through it.

  14. Reverb is all about illusion. To what smoke and mirrors is to the magician, creating the illusion of space is to the mix engineer. It can make the listener suspend belief in the ordinary and transport them to the enchanted spaces created in the musical mind of the master mixer. It need not be an exagerated or fantastic place but only need put the listener in a chamber that makes sense within the context of the familiar. What works for the mix works for the mix.

I guess my go to reverb is the Valhalla Room. But it won't stay on for long because I'll feel it doesn't sound natural enough. Then I'll put on the Redline and browse the presets and it will sound pretty good, but the plugin will suddenly get mangled because of shitty pirated version, so I'll switch to PhoenixVerb, which would sound too weak and annoy me with the preset selection, so instead I'll try some impulse on Altiverb, but feel it colors the sound too much... you get the idea...

In the end I'll delete the reverb altogether because it takes the punch from the mix and use an "analog" delay instead.

This forum isn't good for me, threads like these just make me demo a bunch of different plugins in the hope that they will make my shitty lazy mixing sound better. But they never do.
