The Sphere L22™ microphone system from Townsend Labs models the characteristics of the most sought-after large-diaphragm condenser microphones with amazing accuracy, and allows selection of different mics and patterns even after tracking.

The Sphere™ system consists of an extremely high precision dual channel microphone, which when paired with the included Sphere DSP plug-in (UAD, VST, AU, AAX Native) accurately models the response of a wide range of mics, including transient response, harmonics, proximity effect and three-dimensional polar response.

    Now You Can:
Record with the sound of microphones many have only dreamt about
Change mic type, polar pattern, and other microphone characteristics, even after tracking!
Audition the sound of different microphones without tiring the vocalist
Reduce bleed, undesirable room coloration, and other common issues using Off-Axis Correction™
Record in stereo from a single microphone

So many things coming out so fast.
High end music production has never been so affordable, big budget sound for the average Joe.
Man,i became a musician in 96 when i was 14 years old, everything was waaay more expensive.
    Home production on this level?
Forget about it,only for the select ones with lots of money, but now....everything has changed.

Competition is always good for the customer. It remains to be seen how this fare in comparison with Slate's stuff.

  6. Maybe I'm totally and completely wrong, but I really don't see how a modeling software could even come close to, say, a real good vintage U47 or any high quality microphone. I'll eat your socks (only if your socks are chocolate socks, if not, all bets are off) if someone could show me a double blind where a Blue Bluebird or an RE-20 would be magically mis-identified after passing through this voodoo of a program as one of the holy grails. BOULDER DASH. It would be nice to eat chocolate socks, though.

I can tell you personally the Slate VMS sounds awesome. Slate has a reputation and they don't disappoint. Slate's support is second to none. This is the first time I've ever heard of this other company. Anyway, from the first pricing they seem to cost US200 more than Slate as well. Seriously if you want to hear a difference in your recordings save and get the Slate... You'll get the sound you've been looking for. Well atleast I did and just added high pass and some high boost.. and gold

    Check this out.
Its comparable to 20,30k microphones and high end pre amps.

  10. Ah, now I understand. I thought that any mic would be magically transformed. Now it makes sense to me. However, I did hear a discernable difference between the two U47 mics at the beginning of the video, the emulation not self compressing as did the original as well as not sounding as round and what to me translates to as not the depth of the soundstage of the flesh and blood Neumann. But to be honest, after listening to this display of Slates emulations I have to honestly say that they sound much like the clones of original U47 mics that I have heard. Cheers once again to Mr. Slate. I wonder what part Fred Flintstone had to play in all of this, or even if he still works for his old boss.
