i just loaded it and i f**** love it ...thank you for the heads up on this Edit: it eats up about 5% of the cpu when enabled ... Last edited: Jul 27, 2016
How on earth does this happen? I am flagged by Acustica's spambot as a spammer by the details in their database. Anyone's had this experience?
As Focusrite said, it's probably that you're using a VPN in this specific case. If you have a weird problem on a site you really care to visit, then the problem will likely be solved by turning off your ad blocker, tracker blocker, virtual private network, or a combination of the three. All browser extentions can be turned off quickly in any popular browser. For example, opening a page in incognito mode in Chrome will do it. --------------- As for the CPU hit, I am seeing up to 0.7% on an i7 3770K and 0.3% on an i7 5960X. I understand that weaker processors will take a hit, but this really isn't that bad considering what the technology is. People need to know that this isn't your average plugin. Acustica's methodology is unique and a sample based convolution approach, opposed to trying to clone something bound by the laws of physics in code. Acustica has really worked to take the CPU hit down over the last couple years. If they continue that and Zen makes AMD and Intel compete more again, then hopefully it won't be forever before Acustica's stuff isn't too absurd to use for everyone.
Excuse me for not being so enthusiastic, but ... a VST 2 plugin, an effect ... but it needs 4 GB RAM ? That does not sound like something usable in everyday production with so much RAM usage.
Logic Pro X takes 840 MB of RAM when the project is empty. 10 instances of a piano sampler with EQ (TDR) and Acustica TAN on each instance, go up to 1 GB of RAM used. I don't think is really memory hungry...
Thank you. Could it be something with my service provider? When I fed my computer with Internet service from my phone carrier (using my cell phone as a hot spot), no red flags were raised. If you had the chance to buy a hardware compressor, would you let it pass just because you can't buy one for each of your tracks at once? If they gave away a piece of hardware to you, would you say no because it's just one unit per mix? This is exactly what's going on here. Acustica is giving away a fine quality piece of compressor. Even if you could only use it on the mix bus, it is a high quality gift. Treat it as such: bounce, freeze, prioritize, do what you can if you feel the sound in this compressor is what you need.
Thank you very much for this real-life application and how TAN behaved, memory-wise. Good to hear that Acustica's own requirements are not true. I hoped for an error (probably more like 4 MB instead of GB). I'll get it right now. Thanks
I have no VPN and cannot get them to let me download it, trying numerous times till I nodded out last night. Maybe their server is not up for the onslaught. I tried again And again.
