Kids are fun to watch grow up. They get operating system upgrades about every 2 weeks or so, first year or so, all of a sudden they can do something they couldn't before and it's like, wtf!? Uh oh, (so now you can roll, and you think you're gonna roll off the bed, uh no, yo') or whoa that's cool. Also, it seems no matter how you try, critical periods in their development cannot be sped up (you can always destroy genius, but never create it) so you can be more chill than you think with their development. I used what the kids naturally liked to teach them anything I wanted, e.g., my boys love cars, so I taught them how to spell, by showing them the name of the car they liked, and then the letters of the name...had them spelling at 18 months that way. So what they love and are interested in can be used for what you need to teach them...

Boys are fun. I was wrestling my boys at about the time they were able to sit up by themselves. It was funny as hell, it was my forearms and hands against their whole bodies. They loved that. Your wife will want a girl, if she sees you having too much fun, so good luck on hearing that within a year.

Two things that I know for certain ARE true: Your wife may replace you with the baby, so get ready to feel abandoned; nobody told me about that, (make sure if she wasn't supplemented during pregnancy, to get her at least B complex vitamins not just folic acid, or the post partum is gonna be hell on you. I ran the experiment, and supplemented with multivitamins, b complex, fish oil, calcium/magnesium/VitD3, and she wasn't a wolverine after the second kid, like she was the first. Current understanding is the post-partum psycho is a nutrition thing, so replace the nutrition.) Second, you've had your best sleep before, you will never have a good nights sleep again. Oh, third, breastfeeding is a skill, so I had to get a weird named woman to teach my wife not to give up on the baby and breastfeed (at least first 3 months, 6 is optimal). Even if you have to pump to get the colostrum into the kid, for the first three days, it's worth the effort, it's just the whole initialization of their immune systems, no biggie... When they were breastfeed, they never got sick. Immune systems are strongest, and I supplemented the boys with bottles occasionally for additional fish oil, and multivitamins and "propriatery" supplements. They both are obviously smarter, bigger, and stronger than me. Though their guardians say, they remind them of me.

Last thing: Though it's true your children come first...You're health comes first, I found that out the hard way, cause if your incapacitated or dead, you can't help anyone. To help others, help yourself first.

That's only true for 50% of Caucasian couples after the first birth, and 75% after the second kid (no sex, so I married an Hispanic woman, and screwed myself in a completely different way). Rock'n'roll is great with kids. They love music and my kids can dance unlike me, I assume cause they're latin too... They'll eat vegetables if you keep a straight face. I was very surprised...

I was wondering, since you're outside Western hell PC land, isn't there some support from the government for having a kid? At least for the mother? I heard there was "Let's fk Fridays" so ppl can take off of work, and monetary incentives to increase the domestic population in Russia (which is crashing like the non muslim west). Is any of that true?

Enjoy the new baby smell, sadly it goes away.

Oh, last thing. There was a hypothesis as to why the first born was the "smartest" and it had to do with the mother depleting her stores of DHA (and EPA) [fish oils] and not making it up for the consequent kids. So between my two sons, I dosed my wife with fish oil (titrate to poop floats, google it, it's funny) and the second kid, I'm almost certain is smarter than the first. Also bigger, I had to stop some proprietary supplementing, because he was gonna go over 9lbs...which was no good for such a little mommy.
