Izotope. Their stuff is light years beyond most devs stuff.

Waves. I agree individually they aren't the best, but I personally couldn't finish a project without at least using a few of them.

SSL 4000 bundle from Waves all day long. This is a complete channel strip with filters, EQ, expander/gate and compressor, in both E and G style. Plus you get a separate EQ-only plugin. Plus you get the world-famous bus compressor. I've been using it on literally every single track of my mixes for over 5 years now, I love the fact you don't see the EQ curve, the frequency range is just great - you're not wasting time sweeping around to find what you need to boost or cut, it's all right there, you can't set it up in a weird way. Plus you're not afraid to boost like 10dB if needed, unlike other stuff like Ozone or all the Fabfilter stuff when you see the curve and think oh that's way too much, but in fact the track really needs that. This bundle is $749 regular and I understand that's quite a lot. Watch out for sales though, you can get it for as low as $249 if you wait till Black Friday deals and the likes.

For now... the Waves Gold Bundle is a great value, at $249 off from regular $799. You get lots of goodies in there, to name a few:

    - AudioTrack - a nice channel strip with 4-band EQ, compressor and gate in a nice, compact package
    - C1 Compressor - a great workhorse compressor/expander/gate, with sidechain which you can filter as you wish
    - C4 Multiband Compressor - killer sounding 4-band compressor
    - DeEsser - straightforward stuff, great to tame harsh sounding acoustic guitar!
    - Doppler - great for sound design and effects, also can make nice whooshes with it
    - Doubler- this thing is amazing on vocals, can really thicken them up, you can highpass it so original vocals don't get all muddy as well
    - GTR3 - kinda like Guitar Rig, but you can split up the parts, it has a great tuner - my go-to tuner, really accurate one, also stomps are top-notch, the Tube Screamer overdrive pedal is great to boost before sending to an amp, also has octavers and doublers so you can fake a bass guitar from a regular electric or avoid double tracking that way
    - H-Delay - your average delay, just works and does it well, included are filters, tap tempo, BPM sync, ping-pong delay, pitch modulation, a lo-fi mode and some analog modeling
    - L1 Ultramaximizer - can be used as a simple one-knob "make this thing louder", has a slider to limit without changing volume, and adjustable release time. If you need it, dither is included
    - PAZ Analyzer - handy little spectrum and stereo field analyzer that can work peak and RMS, you can also save results as a text file
    - Renaissance Axx - simple little compressor made specially for guitars, just threshold, attack and gain. Attack is nice if you want to make your guitar punchier or if you want to control the peaks and put your guitar in the background.
    - Renaissance Compressor - here's your regular go-to compressor with all the standard threshold/ratio/attack/release control, should you need it
    - Renaissance Equalizer - handy little EQ, comes in 2, 4 and 6-band variant, has vintage-modelled EQ curves that work just like a Pultec EQ - if you boost the lows and cut at the same time, you get the lows boosted and the low mids get cut so you don't get too boomy but you gain the power of the subs
    - Renaissance Reverb - 12 reverb types, nice vocal plate preset, has reverse reverb in it as well, and built in EQ
    - S1 Stereo Imager - great to set on your master track to have a quick switch to check your mix in mono, can also work as a precise pan control, which is useful for mixing orchestral stuff - you can put instruments right when you want them, also works nicely at stereoizing stuff
    - SuperTap - a fun little delay that you can program like a step sequencer, just like say FL Studio patterns or your MIDI in piano roll
    - Waves Tune LT - a lightweight version of Waves Tune, from what I recall this lacks a couple of features like split and merge notes and so on, but as general auto-tune and if you're only gonna do light manual edits, it's great
    - Vitamin - multiband exciter, kinda like in Ozone

The Gold bundle is fun because it's what all the major studios got back in the day so if you get this you'll be able to share your projects with same plugins you know no problem.

There's also the Renaissance Maxx bundle at $149 ($399 regular) which includes the Renaissance stuff, along with Renaissance Bass (kinda bass enhancer), a channel strip, de-esser, and RVox, which is a great vocal compressor + gate, easy two-knob set and forget. Plus IR-L convolution reverb. Great stuff.

Fabfilter bundle awesome! Because it has all tools that you need in production. Pro-L is the best limiter what I've seen in my life!

Paid stuff: fabfilter, izotope for the options and precision. Also, psp audioware, toneboosters and stillwell audio for the analog satch, and other stuff. (Btw stillwell has unlimited unrestricted trials, like reaper. And toneboosters stuff has automation and preset limitations with trials but in reaper i can use them all fine)

Free stuff: stock plugins (for transparency, precision), variety of sound/antress (for analog/console style), lepou/tse/meruriall (for guitar), voxengo/gvst (general stuff), togu audio line

Not sure if I'd say they were my favourite, but I've been messing around with Soundtoys a fair bit since I, ahem, acquired it.

the fabfilter stuff is pretty much indispensible. Unfortunately, it's also unaffordable. They are the only plugins I use regularly that I haven't bought yet (aside from the occasional instance of Altiverb, which is also just ungodly expensive).

Aside from that, I'm on team Soundtoys as well. I have an instance of radiator on nearly every vocal track
