    Hey guys,

I've got this free room to use and after working for 2 years in different studios, I finally got some time to start creating a decent room for myself. The room will mostly be used for mixing and mastering, and every now and then I'll do some amp and vocal recordings. I've been studying many articles regarding these topics, but I'm still very unsure about how I should treat my room. I hope some of you could help me out a bit!

    So this is the room:

The dimensions are in centimeters and meters. On the left I've got the washing machine which unfortunately can't be removed. It won't be used when I'm working so the noise it makes doesn't matter. Also I can make as much sound as I want and I'll be using headphones in the late hours so the room doesn't have to be isolated.

I was wondering how you guys would fix these problems:

    1. The washing maschine on the left can't be removed. I was thinking of building a wall around it. I could also hang a curtain there which would be cheaper option. I don't mind how it looks but I was wondering if the room would benefit from having a curtain hanging there.

    2. Where it says 216cm, thats an open space. So the room has 3 walls basically. Would this be an adventage or should I look for another room? I could also hang another curtain right there or build another wall...

    3. The wall on the right, (above the open space) is a very thin wall.

    4. What would be the best place, to put my desk, monitors, and gear? Place; 1, 2, 3, or 4?

    5. What kind of acoustic treatment will this room need?

I understand that it's a lot I'm asking, and any help is welcome. Thanks in advance!

    Greetings,

If you build a wall around your washing machine... You'll never be able to wash your clothes again. Not a good idea mate :)
