Yep, as far as I can tell everything works fine here as well.
Ableton Live 9.6 x64 on Win 8.1

 

Their plugins are 95% graphics. LIke 4GB of PNG files and a couple of MBs of real DSP code. That's pathetic IMO.

Sorry, just bitching about the incredibly stupid size of their plugins. V4 was somewhat OK, but this... My W7 OS uses less than 2GB of space, and Reaper DAW is a 10MB EXE. I hate bloatware and inefficient programming with passion, but on top of that their plugins are riddled with bugs. Shame. Otherwise I would call their bundle of synths a "must have".

I think somewhere along the path the guys at Arturia got lost.

Completely agree. I mean, they sound really good to my ears, cover a vast expanse of ground, and look nice and shiny. But 6+GB of GUI pngs of each tiny knob in every resolution up to 4K? Come on Arturia! It took me over 2 hours to install, much longer than a fresh Windows installation. I can't recall any modern program being so bloody inefficient. Certainly no other plugin bundle I've tried is like this.

There has to be a better way than that.

I could write a long list of problems with the Arturia release.
If i could use just two words to describe this software it would be clumsy and buggy.
Yes,some synths sound really good,but unfortunately 1/3 of their synths can be very problematic.
You only discover this when you dig deep and start experimenting and tweaking.
Small little problems that can drive you crazy.
I mean look at some of the companies that have only one synth(sonicprojects op-x pro II) and have a hard time optimizing it,really
trying to make it work like it should and then you have a company like Arturia that wants to do it all and at the same time doesnt deliver.
Though im seeing this pattern in many companies lately,plugins,daws,the drive to earn a lot of money,fast.
This behavior didnt exist before and it came from the gaming community(unoptimized games with many bugs.)

 

@SineWave: Windows 7 SP1 X-lite is only 1.53 GB.

 

Windows 7 "Lite" by Nil. It's nicely cut down, but it's got everything needed for making music and even Internet if you feel lucky. In my view it is what W7 should have been right from the start.

You know, there were times when Microsoft had been giving us a choice of what to install... believe it or not. Since XP you can only use nLite or some other software to make a Windows installation "liter" and get rid of so much unnecessary crap they make you install with it.

edit: I was expecting this new version of Arturia Collection to be buggy as hell. They needed a lot of time to get the V4 plugins right. If you look at the Arturia related threads it is always about some bugs that drive people crazy. V4 plugins are fine now, and I think V5 plugins are not worth using for anything serious, for now. Wait until V5.1 at least. However, the remarks about how huge and inefficient their plugins are now still stands. I am not impressed at all.

edit2: do they at least sound better than V4 plugins? They said they've changed *some* sound engines. I'm also quite interested in Synclavier emu. I might at least install that one.

Some synths sound really good and with certain help of lets say satin,kramer tape,slate,acustica,etc,you can get more dimension and weight out of them.
Some sound really flat and hollow.
My favourites;prophet V,synclavier,stage 73 and Solina V so far.
Interesting fact,real synclavier was heavily used in the legendary score for Rocky IV from Vince Di Cola.
I also think people should wait a bit longer before buying,i will probably buy it eventually as well,but for now still too many bugs.

 

Same issue here as in the previous version: black screen and clicking at some points in the black, the menu and presets appear and can be used. According to developer this problem with the graphics card and opengl was fixed in version 5.0.2, but not for me. Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Reaper 5.201 and Cubase 5.1.2. A pity ´cause the sounds are very good.

With the new version there are still problems with some presets. Yesterday I noticed a preset in Analog Lab changing the mod wheel value, though not the displayed one but the internal one, you couldn't fix it. If you stopped playback and restarted it, it worked for some seconds, then broke again. All in FL 10, W7 x32.

 

so, is nLite the best choice to strip down a Win ISO? did this Nil use nLite?

 

I'm unable to save presets. win 10 live 9.7
can someone confirm if this is actually possible or is it a crack issue?

 

I can save V4 and V5 presets. Something must be up with your install.

 

On mac, I can't use the sustain pedal with any plug from version 5.

 

Don't tell that Cubase is shitty to von steyr,this guy loves Cubase. Like me too,Cubase is the best DAW.

Perhaps is the Arturia V5 Collection which is bad cracked ?

Well reinstalling several times has made no difference. I noticed it does save, it creates the folder 'user' within 'user' & then the preset but the user bank will not appear in the library. When i moved the preset into the template folder it still didn't show. This is the same with all the synths, I'm also unable to create a tab or use the backspace key. Something really buggy going on with the browser. Also had a bad crash with jup8 it made a sustained beeeep noise that sounded & then froze my DAW.
