So whats everyone's latency at on your setups? I have:
    PC, running Win8.1, on Reaperx64
    Q6600 quadcore, 6gb ram.
    Motu 896hd+ Motu 8pre, ASIO4ALL.
44.1, 64 samples gives me 2.8 ms roundtrip!
(Motu stock drivers are twice as slow...)

Im curious what everyones setups are running at!

Thunderbolt users, whats your latency like?
Im also curious, im looking at getting a thunderbolt setup one day, anyone have luck with TB to FW adapters and their interfaces? Cheers folks.

  3. PC, WIN 10 on Ableton 9.6.1
    i7 4790k 16gb RAM
    Focusrite Saffire PRO 14
alwais on 96KHZ ( i keep it at 128 samples because eventually the project will become huge so i dont need to change it everytime) so it's 4.29 ms with focusrite drivers
    ;)

Usb interface user - Tascam US1800 - sorry OP

    Intel I7 6700 non k | 16gb ram ddr4 2400 | WIN10 | Reaperx64

    44.1 24bit, 64 samples, ASIO4ALL (selecting the tascam) - 2.1/2.1ms
    44.1 24bit, 49 samples (lowest latency setting), TASCAM ASIO - ~2.6/9.3ms
    44.1 24bit, 128 samples (low latency setting), TASCAM ASIO - ~4.4/13ms

Normally I use the 192 samples with the ASIO from the Tascam.

    Mackie Blackjack at 48khz
    Win 7, Live 9.6.1
Intel 6700k 4.2 Ghz (i don't go crazy with overclocking)
    16GB RAM
I've been mostly keeping my buffer at 128 except for huge projects. I believe my latency is between 6-7 ms

This latency shootout is kind of ridiculous.
It all depends how far into production you are, number of instruments,plugins,etc...
You have to basically improvise a lot,im talking about big projects.
I have played with a latency of 20ms + and noted it sounded even better if i didnt quantize it later,
sounded more organic, since then i may do that on purpose.

I'm always at high latency to mix (1024), then I bounce the track (often stems to be mixed or muted for the singer/player), to record at low latency (64).

If you can play - without problems - 3,5 m away from a loudspeaker, than you can play without problems med 10ms.

I have a Casio MIDI guitar with about 300ms latency. Unusable except for pads that fade in. Works well as a Strat sounding electric though.

BTW anything under 14ms in imperceptible to the ear when compared to itself. When played with other instruments it goes up a little.
Flange is 12-25mn and chorus is 26 to 60ms. Elvis style slapback echo is about 120ms to 150ms.

Nice guys, cool to see how you all run things! Interesting stuff :P
I've been thinking of using a different guitar setup for my band jamming/live rig.
...running a laptop+interface and running amp sims, thru my power amp+cabinet.
Or would that be lame on stage? haha.
Trouble is finding a cheap laptop with firewire.

Sweet! You on mac or pc? I'm wondering about how drivers would work if I got a Macbook Pro for it's TB port, and dual booted windows haha.

nothings lame if it works my rig right now is a POD XT with stereo DI into the PA. I have a dummy Cab the double as a case for my floorboard cables ect.. the Pod itself sits above the cab via a magic arm for easy adjustments. i have an old broken SM57 even i use to "mic" the cab.. its just for looks. might find a dummy head for it as well. I like having my tone no matter the situation.
